Noone was complaining they we're long just stating a fact, whats disrespectful in you assuming my nondenominational wedding taking 10 min is not enough time to properly celebrate . My god doesn't care its an hour or a min , sorry you think so . And FYI im sure i won't be the only one "complaining " of a 12 hour ceremony that day Smiley winking .

But if she doesn't know Catholic mass is long, she won't know if she doesn't want one for that reason........ logic.

I was raised Catholic and omfg are the masses long. It's a fact. It's not belittling anything. Having to kneel in the pews is painful. I had several knee injuries from sports and as a HIGH SCHOOLER it was excruciating to do everything necessary during a regular mass. My family did not believe in the whole "leave your butt hanging off the pew and get as close to the kneelers as possible" option.

As a recovering Catholic, I think it's important non-catholics know what they're getting into beforehand.

OP - Telling someone to "find another forum to hate on" is against the community guidelines. I suggest reading the guidelines and lurk a bit more.

To answer your question, every Catholic ceremony is different. Some are short while other are long. Mine was 30 minutes and we exchanged our vows in the middle of the mass.

Pre-cana classes are actually really nice. Its like pre-marital counseling where you can talk about things before it becomes a problem. As PP have said, you have the option as a Christian to have your ceremony within or outside of Mass. Within mass it should take about an hour (maybe and hour and a half if your priest likes to drag things out, although I've never been to one that long). Without likely 20-30 minutes. It depends on what you would like. I just want to say I think it's great that you're willing to accommodate your FH religious beliefs. The sacrament of marriage is a major part of a Catholic's lifeSmiley smile
