Catholic Wedding - Sponsor Couple Program

We ended up having to do an encounter weekend because the church preparing us (it’s where we live because we’re getting married 4 hours away) promised they’d have a couple for us and then backed out because they no longer had enough. We didn’t mind doing it in 1 weekend, and we met several couples our age getting married, too, so that was fun.

I found out four days before my wedding that my fiance and I were supposed to have a sponsor couple, but our priest never gave us their name, and they never contacted me. We also had prep books, which we completed but that we were supposed to discuss under the guidance of a sponsor couple. It sounds as though your priest prefers the sponsor couple program, so hopefully it means the parish has the support in place that you will actually interact with your sponsor couple. Personally, if I had it to do over I would have asked the priest for online options, as we were living in different countries during our engagement.
