Catholic Church Brides ... Aisle Runner?

Marianne, on January 20, 2012 at 6:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Ok, So I've seen so many issues with aisle runners - and I REALLY don't see the point. Are you having one? My mom almost had a heart attack when I told her I didn't want one. Her response to me was, "WELL! I've never been to a wedding that didn't have one!". I just told her there's a first for everything, LOL. Just curious to see how many of you getting married in the catholic church are having an aisle runner, and if someone could please tell me the point of it I'd appreciate it!

We're not doing an isle runner. Our church recommends not using is because its a tripping hazard. The whole place is carpeted and the heals poke through causing brides to trip. In the old days the floors of the churches were dirt. They would put the isle runner down right before the bride so the brides dress wouldn't get dirty.

We were married in a Catholic Church and I honestly think it was not allowed. Like Kristina, our aisle was marble so I wouldn't have covered it anyway.

I've never been to a church wedding that had an aisle runner. IMO they're tacky & outdated. If you're getting married outside that's one thing. Church? Um, no.
