Catholic Ceremony’s & Wedding Bands

Tara, on November 28, 2018 at 7:12 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9
Hey y’all! My FH and I were looking at wedding bands the other day, and he’s extremey drawn to the black bands, however my FMIL has a concern about a black band in the Catholic Church. Has anyone ever heard of issues with getting married in a catholic ceremony with a black band? Just want to make sure we won’t have any issues.

Never heard of it I can’t imagine why this would be an issue.
I hope it’s not an issue because that’s what color FH band is.

Not an issue at all. The catholic church could care less what color bands you have, as long as they don't have a satanic cross or something crazy like that on them, and even then I don't think they'd turn you away. The Catholic Church is traditional, but very open on a lot of subjects/situations. Don't worry about it.

As a Catholic I can’t see how that would be an issue. It can’t hurt to ask someone at the church though if it would make you feel better but like everyone said as long as there isn’t anything satanic which I doubt there is you should be fine! Shoot no one would probably even know until the ceremony

Was at a catholic wedding this summer where the groom had a black tungsten ring. I can’t for the life of me think of why this would be an issue.

Use the black band in the church. I can’t think of any reason that color would be inappropriate. Probably just your FMIL’s way of not liking his choice.

I've never heard of the Catholic church caring what color a band is....

FMIL probably just doesn't like it because it is too modern for her tastes so wants to blame it on the church.

As a Catholic, that is complete nonsense. The Catholic church could care less what ring you bought. Your dress however is a different story.

Got married in the Catholic church -- nobody cared about our rings, my dress, etc. Talk to your priest if you want to know for sure but I can't imagine it being an issue!
