Full catering (not including cake) with open bar. Average how much? How much are you paying?

So my wedding we are paying $6k for 150 people. My work friend, same venue different caterer, is paying $4k for 120 people.

A lot of things factor into catering price (apps, choices, buffet vs plated).

Edit: that does not include alcohol.

OP this depends not only on where you are but what you're serving. Looking for rehearsal dinner options the other day I saw $7pp catering for BBQ if you just do pulled pork and sides (not recommended) The cheapest at the wedding venues I looked at was $59pp for diner style food and up to $100+pp for nicer seafood etc. I would say an average/norm is $80 but I think this is a pre-bar price. (Mine was all inclusive so I'm honestly no expert on the subject)

We're in DC and it hugely varied - some places as high as $200/person. I think it would be pretty difficult to get under $100/person in this area.

Ah, I get it! Glad someone was able to break the code. lol.

Ours comes out to about $200 per person. I would say that is quite a bit higher than the average in my area, but worth it to us because we care a lot about providing the best in food and drink to our guests.

This seriously varies depending on exactly what is offered. You can do hors devours and a buffet and be considered full catering or you can do a 5 course meal with all the stops. It depends what you get. There's no definitive answer.

Ours is $30 pp and we have 120 guests. This will include cocktail hour apps, but not booze. We will provide our own booze for the 2 bartenders. The bartenders fee is $360 and we live in NYC. We average the liquor and other beverages to cost $1,500. We are picking up from the wholesalers. Who knows, that price may change though.

I know in total I'm spending close to 13k for food alone for 165 people, but this is including other fees and gratuity as well. I live in MD and our wedding is going to be in Frederick county if that helps. I'm guessing a cake will run close to at max $1,200 total, booze I'm not sure yet, we have to buy it ourselves.

This is a question that is highly based on geography and skill...you can go to Applebees or you can go to the French Laundry and get a meal. Is it the same meal? Obviously not.

In my area, at any great place, you're looking at, minimum, ****.00 PP plus tax and service. Or roughly what you would spend to go out to dinner at a great restaurant, have three courses and a couple of drinks.
