Catering set up?

Jenny, on September 8, 2020 at 12:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi!

We decided to move our wedding to next year and have a small celebration on our original date for about 20 of our close friends and family. I have most of the details all planned out, but I'm stuck on what to do for food!

I'm thinking of a buffet style dinner -ordering food from local restaurants. Has anybody done this before? I have a lot of local restaurants to choose from, but am unsure of how to set it up. For example, if I order Pizza, how do I set it up so it doesn't get cold? How do I set up mashed potatoes and pasta?

Oh, I haven't decided on what food we will be serving- pizza and pasta are just what came to mind now.

Any kind of advice would help ! Thank you!

You could buy chafing dishes and fuel to keep it heated

You can buy chafing dishes and burners at Walmart. Be very diligent about proper temperatures.
Browse Pinterest for 'buffet setups' for inspiration but what you're describing is commonly done. Not at weddings but other parties.

To keep things warm, immediately set them out on the table in a chafing dish over a lit burner.
many restaurants serve catering menus in foil pans that slide right into chafing dishes as the base. For a pizza, do the same but with a pizza stone over the burner. Transfer from the takeout box to the pizza stone.
    Very simple and easy.
Make sure everything is labeled with a small sign in front, listing what its and any potential allergens, vegan or gluten free, etc. Have plenty of tongs/spoons for serving.
