Could you cut your guest list a little??? That is causing your price to go up as well. Of course you want everyone there but ours is 5600 and for 100ppl and we have about 20 other ppl who we want to come but i am thinking thats an extra $1120 just for 20 ppl lol. So its a hard decision

@Brian C.: I think Future Mrs.Covington acknowledges that it is a terrible idea. It's just that the competition for "worst idea ever" is so tough around here! You have to remember, we've had brides here who say they are going to charge their guests for the food. Or sell tickets to their showers.

We had 120 invited 103 RSVP yes....food and beverage...buffet, 2 entree choices, 2 side choices, salad and bread as well as an open full bar ran us roughly $6500 without taxes and tip. Tip was $816.

Ours is 3000 for 90 people, including hors d'oeuvres and a full dinner served family style plus assorted pastries for dessert (gratuity and tax included). We are bringing in our own alcohol so that saves a lot, no cake cutting fee (thank God). You definitely have to shop around. I inquired about pricing at around 20+ places before I found a nice location with decent prices. Good luck!

@FutureMrsCovington...they provide the drinks. It's a beer and wine package with premium mixed drinks as well.

I'm currently reviewing caterers as well, some of the cost cutting tips I picked up were:

    1. don't include children in your headcount. If you have a separate table (or room ) for the kids to hang out, order a pizza (keep the receipts for the health inspector ). I'm sure they'll rather eat that then reception food anyway.

    2. if you can, try to purchase the liquor on your own. Create some signature cocktails (made with lower shelf liquor) and offer that instead of top shelf.
