Casual groom and groomsmen attire

Brandieb123, on April 16, 2016 at 8:25 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

What do you think looks good that is casual?

I like the suspenders or vest look. FH wont go for it. He thinks he is too big. He is a big guy but I dont think it would look bad on him. I would never make him look bad especially at our wedding lol

I am trying to convince him to entertain the thought and try it on at least

** He doesnt want a full suit either. I know I said in a comment that I choose. Thats just something I say. I am trying to quit saying me or I. It is we. We make most of the decisions together.

Awe I was about to say suspenders or vests! It's tough because it is more casual, but I get that a lot of guys don't like that style either. Maybe he should at least try it to see.

Why does it have to be casual? Is a traditional suit an issue? I just think they tend to be flattering on everyone. Or maybe just dress shirt and a tie?

My guess, he is just nervous about the attire and how it all will look and come together. I think once he tries some things on, he might get more confident and learn what he likes. My FH owns one suit that he wears to weddings, funerals, anything. His work clothes have to be very casual because of the nature of his job, so I understand having a FH not keen on dressing up. Just a thought! Maybe trying it on will change his mind.

I LOOOVEEEEE the look of suspenders. My FH is also a big guy, but hes gained a little more confidence since losing a lot of weight...I think all you can do is take your FH to a store and have him try on different things. he might be surprised by what he likes

FH is wearing a suit, but I'm sure his jacket will come off the second we enter the reception.

HIs groomsmen are wearing dark grey dress pants, white shirts and a tie. No suspenders and no vests. I liked the look of suspenders, but FH hated it.

My FH is dead set on wearing a sweater! He hates suits and I want him to be comfortable because it's his day too! So he'll most likely wear something like this. Except without the jeans.

FH said he isnt an old man. He has it in his head that old men wear suspenders lol

I cant find many pictures of bigger grooms not wearing a full tux or suit. I found an article about bigger guys in suspenders but its not showing the full picture on any of them.

I am choosing not to do full suits for a few reasons.

    1) I like the look

    2) It gives us more color/pattern options

    3) The pieces can be used again

    4) It is cheaper on everyone

I actually really like Ashleys FH sweater idea. That pic really still feels wedding while still being casual.

We are doing suspenders & ties, no vests or jackets b/c FH is worried about being too hot. I love the look.

FH is set on doing bowties and suspenders. He's still not sure if he wants to wear a vest to set himself a part or just boutonniere but its definitely suspenders for the groomsmen!

We are doing slacks, shirt, vest. My guy is 6'3" 270, so bigger, too. Vests, if the right size, can be very flattering!

OP I noticed that you said "I am choosing not to do full suits." As opposed to "we are choosing." Doesn't your FH get a say? I am not judging, I just don't think what you want him to remember about the day is how uncomfortable he was.

This is how the groomsmen and Groom are dressing for my wedding. (not the suit). My FH would end up taking the jacket off anyways, so we just bypassed it! They will all still look spiffy!

Our guys are wearing grey dress pants with white shirts, brown suspenders, and plaid ties while FH is wearing a grey vest and plaid bowtie. FH is 6'3" and down to the 270's(he's lost almost 60 pounds since January) and he likes the vest look because it kinda covers where he is self-conscious.

My FH and his groomsmen will also be dressed like the picture Shelby posted, but no jackets on anyone. The groomsmen will be wearing white shirts with black ties, and FH will be wearing a black shirt with a white tie. We had him try on white shirts, but he's gained some weight and the black shirt was a lot more flattering. I completely understand body insecurities, so I'm just happy we were able to find something he feels confident in.

My fh and groomsmen will be wearing close to what Shelby posted but with nice jeans instead of dress slacks with a dark gray/silver shirt and a tie to match the bm dresses.

Sarah: He gets all of the say in what he is wearing. He doesnt want a full suit either. The only thing I am telling him is dont knock it before you try it. He agreed to go somewhere soon to try the vest look and other things.

Make it fun to try stuff on. Maybe grab a beer after or before or both! You'll both be happy once this is nailed down!

My FH is bigger too and we are doing vests for the guys. His concern about suspenders was similar to your FHs. I don't think suspenders are flattering of bigger guys.

Got it. I see what you are saying. Thanks for clarifying. :-) Now that you have added details I can also see why you are suggesting the suspenders or vest look to him and are asking for other ideas. If he doesn't want a full suit or the suspenders/vest look I wouldn't be sure what to suggest to him either. What is he saying that he wants to wear?
