Cash Gift Calculator

Rosie9615, on May 19, 2015 at 10:54 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 27

I heard about this on the radio the other day. You enter in all the info about the event you are attending and poof! it magically tells you how much is "appropriate" to give. Out of curiosity, I plugged in info pretending to be a guest at my own wedding. According to this, my relatives should be giving us $360 which seemed crrrraaazzzzyyy high to me! Does it seem accurate for your area?

How about, "Give as you are moved and able". That's what I say at church when we introduce the offering....

It's interesting to see when you the info.. I first did it as a guest for my own wedding. And then I did it as a guest at my friends wedding (I'm actually the MOH) and it's quite interesting.

I need to show this to FMIL so that she knows that $500 is not appropriate for one single OOT guest to give. Yikes.

Haha $255 for a close friend with similar income not attending prewedding festitives! I usually give about half that!

I think I'll add this link to my wedding website. Right below my cash registry Smiley winking

I was just told $225 for casual friends' wedding we're attending this weekend. That's close to what we planned.

$255 for me...being a family friend and attending 1 festivity. That's ridiculous. One uncle of my FI gave us $200 and we thought that was way too much. Where I'm from the average gift is 25-100.
