Carnival cruise

Have any of you been on a carnival cruise? If so where do you go, for how long, did you do shore excursions and do you think it was worth it? My fiance and I want to go for honeymoon but it looks like there are so many cool places to go I can't decide!

I've never been on a Carnival Cruise but I have taken several other cruises and loved them all. I have been on several 7 day cruises mostly in the Eastern Caribbean (St. Thomas, St. Martin, Bahamas etc) and those are all great islands to visit. FH and I are planning a cruise on Norwegian for our honeymoon and we picked new islands to visit this time. We cannot wait for it!

I have been on many - my favorite one was to Grand Cayman, Belize, Cozumel, and Isla Roatan. I would highly suggest it! So much fun! The only place that we felt a little unsafe (due to a issue going on, on the mainland in Honduras) was Isla Roatan, but let me tell you that island is beautiful. We zip lined through the jungle down to the beach, my FH scuba dived in Belize, we hit an all inclusive in Cozumel and did a pirate ship in Grand Cayman.

What were the other cruise lines you went through? I only know of carnival lol so I'm nervous to try other ones but I'd be willing to!

We did this trip too a few years ago. I loved all of the stops, but I felt like I’d rather go back to Cozumel or Isla Roatan for a week rather than take a cruise again. I didn’t love Carnival as a whole. The price was good but it definitely felt like a bargain cruise.

    I've been on 2 Carnival.

    Conquest:

Belize: We did a rainforest zipline/cave tubing excursion.. SO FUN!!!!

    Honduras: Dolphin Excursion..this was great!

Grand Caymen: Stingray excursion..this made our trip. They're so gentle and elegant. They swim right between your legs.

Cozumel: Beach day..meh, I'm just not a fan of tourist Mexico.

    Pride:

Nassau: Meh, its not great. We just strolled around town and it wasn't great. Got offered a lot of drugs though..ugh. If we go there again, I'd spend the day at Atlantis..which is amazing.

Turks/Caicos: Amazing..just loved it. We snorkeled and did a conch dive. The water there is just perfection.

Then we missed a port due to weather.

I love Carnival cruises. I know they get a bad reputation but I enjoy the fun atmosphere. Lots of music, dancing..the comedy clubs are usually good.

We've been on Royal Caribbean and Norwegian and loved both. One of the things we really like about Norwegian is that they run a special a lot of the time that you get a "free perk" when you book a room so we have been able to get an unlimited drink package included in our room cost. This is actually why we picked Norwegian for our honeymoon, free drink package!

I haven’t been on one yet but we’re about to book our Carnival cruise to the Bahamas for our honeymoon in October, my dad has and he said it was great. Their website has reviews on different shore excursions so you can kinda tell which ones are worth it

I haven’t been on the cruise yet but we have it booked for our honeymoon. We’re going to jamaica and grand cayman. FH has been on 3 cruises with them before we met and he said they were great. We had a $200 credit with them for this exact cruise almost two years ago but had to cancel because I had found out I was pregnant. Carnival requires a doc to sign off that you can sail but my doc said I couldn’t.

I’ve been on a number of Carnival cruises. I haven’t been on any other cruise lines, but can say I’ve honestly enjoyed my experiences with Carnival. I’ve done a few cruises to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Roatan, and Belize. As an archaeologist, this is my favorite itinerary thus far. There are good shore excursions to Mayan sites from both Cozumel and Belize City (I recommend Coba and Xunantunich from each, respectively). Grand Cayman is very charming, and is home to a lovely turtle farm, good beaches, and some cool shipwrecks.
Ive been on a couple of cruises to the Bahamas, and one eastern Caribbean to St. Thomas, Turks & Caicos, and San Juan. San Juan was interesting, but the other ports are mostly beach and shopping destinations.

I’ve been on 2 carnival cruises! I loved them. I love cruises in general. I’ve been on a few different cruise lines but carnival was my favorite. We’ve done the super new ships and older ones, and I’ve found that the super new and flashy ships are more crowded and tend to have passengers who are less... nice

I have been on 4 carnival cruises and 2 with Royal Caribbean. I enjoyed both immensely, but they were two very different experiences. Carnival was definitely more of the "party" ship, while Royal Caribbean seemed more laid back and had less college students... but it also could have been the time of year that we went.

While on Carnival, I loved the stop in Cozumel and we did the excursion to the "private island". It was really relaxing.

The last cruise that I went on was Royal Caribbean and went to Nassau, Bahamas, then CocoCay, Bahamas (their own private island), and then Key West, FL - ship's port was in Miami, FL. That was an excellent cruise. I really enjoyed Key West, as I had never been. So much fun walking down the streets!

I have been on 10 different Carnival Cruises and loved them all.

It really depends on what you want to do. I feel the Eastern Caribbean are more laid back, beaches, shopping, explore on your own. Western Caribbean has more ziplining, ruins, and I would highly recommend ship sponsored excursions.

Never felt unsafe exploring Eastern ports on my own. There were definitely some ports on the Western cruises that I felt uneasy.

For those interested , my favorite excursion of all time was in Cozumel. It was called Save the Baby Sea Turtles. It's a seasonal excursion where you dig thru a recently hatched sea turtle nest for the babies that couldn't make it out on their own. Absolutely amazing experience!!

We are doing a Carnival cruise for our honeymoon! We are leaving from Puerto Rico and going to the majority of the Virgin Islands. We love it because it's almost all inclusive and you are able to see multiple places on one vacation

I hate Carnival, I will never cruise with them again. Their food wasn't very good, I wasn't impressed by the on board entertainment, or the ship itself. It's also very family oriented so there are a lot of children. Not exactly what I want for my honeymoon. I love Norwegian, I looked at them for our honeymoon but ended up getting an amazing deal with Royal Caribbean. I am so excited to cruise with them, I've heard so many good things, and their ships look so cool.

We went to Costa Maya like 8 years ago they were still coming back from a bad hurricane so really all they had were 2 all inclusives and a swim up bar (huge) at the port. But the island was beautiful!! Have fun!

I wouldn't go on a Carnival cruise if it was free. Terrible food and service, too much crowding. I'd rather spend more and go on a better quality line.

I have been on 4 Carnival cruises. I loved it. I would suggest a 5 or 7 day cruise. The 5 day we did Cozumel and Costa Maya. The 7 days are the best, you get more stops and also have a chance to really enjoy the ship. I also did Royal Caribbean, it was nicer ships but not as much fun and more expensive. Stay away from the Bahamas cruise, they are so crowded, unless you do the Disney cruise line.

I have done 3 Carnival cruises and don't have any complaints. It is more of a "fun ship" they call it, and that's because they try to keep you entertained with activities day and night. The food has been good in my opinion and the crew very nice. I wouldn't mind going on another one and I actually was trying to plan another one for September. It looks like Royal Carribean may be a little nicer based on photos I see but it does seem more "reserved". With Carnival I would avoid the summer because there are a ton of families and kids and maybe pick a "newer" boat because the decor will be a little nicer and more to do. Grand Turk is beautiful and so is Aruba.
