Caricature Artist Cost?

Danielle, on June 20, 2013 at 9:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

Hey all - I am sure this might depend on location but has anyone hired a Caricature Artist and how much did you pay? I have no idea what to expect for pricing and not sure if I should bother inquiring around if it is going to be way out of my budget.

I would have absolutely loved to have a photobooth but couldn't find one in our budget.... so am trying to think of other things that guests would enjoy...

Anyone? Thanks!

WOw!! Now this is a great idea. Very original and creative. I wish I thought of it. However i am not sure how much it costs. I am sorry I am not much help but I just had to say how much I loved the idea. I am eager to hear the responses. Do u think it will cost less than the photo booth? they typically run for 400 dollars to 500 dollars or so

Are you watching Four Weddings? Smiley tongue

I came across pricing in the NYC area that was about $400-600 for 2 hours.

@Hot Chocolate Honestly I am not sure. In my area photobooths generally run $1000+... I am guessing it would be less.

And I can't take the credit for this idea... I am watching Four Weddings and a bride had it and I thought it was so cool haha :-)

    I knew it! Hahaha

Photobooths in my area are also about $1000. I think I found the caricature artists on gig masters or a similar site, and their prices were listed up front-- I didn't need to call anyone.

I LOVE THAT SHOW! Oh wow. 1000 yes thats definitely pricey. I am in DC and they run between 400-600 for a couple of hours. Either way its still a cool idea. A caricature artist would probably be less. you should be able to find them....maybe craigslist? or a magic/ artist/ entertainment vendor? I hope you find a vendor!! I am excited for you

I'm watching four weddings with my mom and she asked me to post something up here to see if anyone else is doing it! Hahaha, this is too funny!

@ABballerina...that is so funny! I am a Four Weddings addict... although usually I watch on Friday's... I didn't actually know it was on tonight, just happened to turn on the TV but glad I did!

I've taken a peek at the local classified and there are a few vendors listed, I've sent inquiries so we will see what they say. I am super bummed about not having a photo booth as almost every wedding I've been to has had one and I have really loved it but... maybe a caricature artist will be more unique!!

What a great idea! I have no clue how much it would cost but just wanted to say that I got a photo booth and we're paying 1,300 so I'm assuming it has to be more than that. Pls let us know what happens I would love to know!

Yep I found a caricature artist in maryland for 125-140 dollars per hour with 2 hour minimum. so I agree that it is much more cost effective. You should have no problems finding one with a reasonable price

Awesome, thanks @Hot chocolate... I've sent a few inquiries... haven't found anyone in my area that posts their pricing on their websites. Will let you know how it turns out! I do anticipate that it will be cheaper than a photobooth!

OoOoOo... I found a great website... the-nose.com and it highlights Caricature artists by province/state. I have found a few that list pricing for my area and it seems about $150/hour with a 2 hour minimum is pretty normal.

    Nice!

We paid 600 for 4 hours...she was good and a big hit! At the end of the night there were 3 people she hadn't gotten to so she took their picture and sent me their sketches a couple weeks later which I thought was a nice touch. She did full Color 8x11 sketches up to 3 people at a time and used paper that had our monogram and everything. The coolest part was seeing people change their profile pics to their caricature after the wedding Smiley smile we had a photobooth too....they were both full all night (as was the dance floor...there was no competition between them) and we only had 65 people.

We've hired one (we're in Southern California), and are paying $525 for 4.5 hours of drawing time (he doesn't take breaks). Check out the website gigmasters.com, that's how we found our guy Smiley smile
