Cape vs Veil! Help! 5

Hey! So I’m getting married in September, and I can’t decide between a cape and a veil! I have always loved the idea of the cape, but wonder if I should go the more traditional route! I also don’t want to detract from my dress! I’ve attached pics of from when I got my dress wearing a veil and a cape they had there (which I’m not a huge fan of), and a cape that I love off of Etsy!! I love the veil look but wonder if the cape would go better!! Our theme is fantasy/renaissance faire vibes! So… I’d love to hear what you think! I love them both, I just want to make sure that I’m choosing the best option for my dress!

I like the veil! I think the little pearls are a bit trendy and played out at this point, the lace veil is traditional and timeless. I think it suits your dress better.

I think the cape does distract from your dress and is too much. I’d go with the veil.

Why not both? 😆 I wore a veil and a cape, and I adored it. The cape gave me drama for the ceremony, then I took it off and just wore the veil for the reception. Don’t think you have to pick just one. Do what you love best.

The train of your dress is STUNNING and I feel like it needs it's own moment on the aisle.

To throw another hat into the ring - I'm doing a draped veil which definitely leans into a ren faire vibe and if you do a fingertip length you won't cover your train! Check out etsy they have some really cool options.Smiley laugh

Ooo I’ll have to look into it! I think I saw some but was worried about how it would look sitting in my hair!

I had some beading on the edge of my veil to help it stand out from the cape a little. I didn’t think it was too much! It’s your call in the end of what you like.

I love the cape! I think it's adds gorgeous drama to the dress! And it provides the option for 2 completely different looks - cape for ceremony and photos after, then no cape for the reception. I added a huge removable train to my dress for the ceremony, then took it off for the reception and I'm sooooo glad I did! It added more interest to our photos (rather than 1000 pictures all with the exact same look), and it also made it easy to tell right away which pictures were from what part of the evening.

Both are beautiful! However, the cape might get hot, so maybe the veil would be best?

Two great choices but, the cape takes away from your gorgeous dress. You should go with the veil.

The short veil seems best since it lets your train of your dress show in all its glory. I love how the transition to the train is not straight across but has the fingers of solid material instead. Yours is the second dress to be posted with that type of train.

I decided on a cape for my wedding, but the dress is just a plain satin dress and the cape adds too it instead of distracting from it. So like many others said, I vote veil.
