My sister had a friend that was in art school who made a canvas with a bare tree. So then at the wedding, guests dipped their thumbs into green, red, or orange paint them put their thumb prints onto the tree to be leaves. This was to show her "family tree" (including friends). it was a very creative idea, but she didn't remember to put like wipes or something out so people could clean their fingers off! we luckily found some tissue boxes at the church to use at least.

CVS does picture canvas for a really good price. Also Groupon always has picture canvas deals that may be worth looking into. As for size how many guests are you having? Are they signing their name only or a note too?

I think size wise a 12x18 or 16x20 would be perfect for 70 guests to sign and/or write messages. My family buys Cvs canvas photos a lot and it is great quality, never had a complaint about them. Here's the link to some of their canvas. Also there's usually a coupon for cvs. http://www.cvsphoto.com/Canvas-Prints

Hmmm I think sharpie would be the best, maybe a metallic gold or silver depending on the colors in your picture. You could even do a fine point sharpie.

We used a photo from our engagement photos and ordered a 24 x 32 inch canvas. We had 100 people. We had black sharpies available to sign it. You can see it in this pic!

Canvas on Demand always has deals on Groupon (they have one right now in my area) for 1 16x20 canvas print for $29.95 or 2 for $49.95. They are great quality and ship pretty quickly. I've gotten several from them and have been impressed. You just upload your photo to their site and they ship the canvas to you. Easy peasy. Search groupon for "Canvas on Demand".
