Can't bustle! Wth!

Shelby, on April 22, 2016 at 4:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I went for my final fitting today (yay!) and I asked my seamstress about a bustle and she said the way my dress was styled she wouldn't be able to bustle it. It has a loop under the train she said I could hold to keep my train up, but I don't want to have to hold onto it all night! My train isn't cathedral length or anything, but it's still in a hazard zone for people feet and dirty floors. Any other alternatives??

Try another seamstress. Without seeing your dress, I'm not sure if she just doesn't want to do it, can't do it or it can't be done.

I don't really have a picture of the whole back, but you can get a general idea.

TBH I don't think I have ever seen that particular wispy style able to be bustled, but like I said you can try another seamstress.

I would ask her and a few other bridal specialists about options like a train flip or pickup bustle

The brides on this thread didn't have any problems getting their ruffly mermaid dresses bustled:

Or maybe a side bustle, to anchor it above the ruffles? Like in the photo a little down on this page: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/let-me-see-your-bustle-please-lol/4314595ab97a125d.html?page=2

Find another seamstress. There shouldn't be a huge problem adding a bustle to that dress. I had a seamstress tell me mine could not be either because of the heavy lace & beading on my dress. She said I was better off finding a different dress or carrying my train. My dress is currently with another seamstress having a bustle added.

My dress has that poofy, ruffly bottom and can be bustled. I'll be given 3 different options. Check with another seamstress.

I would check with another seamstress. while looking up bustle styles I found a dress similar to yours being bustled. I found it on YouTube of all places.

Hmm...I'd check with another seamstress, too. The layers on my skirt don't fall vertically like yours, they swirl around, but the train looks similar in length. My seamstress was able to bustle it using only three buttons straight across the back. Here are the pics:
