Candy Buffet Trial Run

Jessica, on August 1, 2019 at 11:54 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 25
Excuse the white in the background, I had another project on the table i didn't want in these pics.

So this is the trial run for our candy buffet. The sign is not quite complete and Im missing a little candy but wanted to have a basic idea of how it should look for my decorator.

Obviously she will have the whole table to spread things out some, plus there are 2 more jars to add that will have candy.

What do you guys think of the way it looks? Should I add a table runner? Overlay? Any other decor or suggestions?

Do you think this (plus 2 more jars) is enough candy for approximately 50 people?

Side note: all the opened candy is going to be replaced with fresh candy for the reception, I just had to see how it looked set up.

Super cute! I like the different heights, I think that is important on a table.

It looks great! I love the heart shaped dishes. Are you having bags for the candy or small plates set up? I don't think it need any more decorating, and it's definitely enough for about 50 people!

Yes, I thought about doing color coordinated but I wanted it to be fun and actually taste good. The pixy stix shes pop rocks were my childhood favs and the rest are FHs favorites. Hes a huge candy person which is why we decided to do the candy buffet, because he gets all the leftovers lol

I actually found the heart shaped dishes at dollar tree believe it or not! Were having bags. Its hard to see them but theyre in the back on the right in the pics closed with mini clothespins. Not sure where to put them on the table though.

I am a huge candy person also, so I completely understand!! Are you having this in addition to a cake/dessert table, or instead of?

I've planned a dessert table, with a small cake for us to cut. But I would love to have candy too!! And this is something I could do myself, and not have to hire anyone!!

Were having a traditional wedding cake, then I believe his mom is getting some pies as well. But if not, this is in place of a dessert table.
If you decide to do it, you probably don't need as much candy as you think. I bought everything from the dollar tree with the excepiton of 4 jars that I purchased from Walmart for $2.95 each. I bought the candy from dollar tree too. I started off with 2 small bags of each just to see roughly how much Id need. I had looked at candy prices online and it was going to run about $10-$15 per candy (party city, Amazon, oriental trading, etc). I did the math and it turned out cheaper to just do dollar tree. The small bags at dollar tree for the different candies took 2 to 4 bags to fill up the different containers. I honestly did not think i had enough but i have several bags left over.
I got the boxes of candy (movie style candy) from dollar tree. For example, if you see the sweet tarts, thats 4 boxes and the largest dish of all (a quart I think).
In all I have under $50 invested. I even got the brown paper bags from dollar tree 50 for $1 and the mini clothespins were from there too.

Hope this helps if you decide to do it!

Ok, that all makes sense. I was wondering how much of it came from Dollar Tree, because I know they have a lot of items you can get in bulk online (jars, bowls, etc.). That's really cool! The more I read, the more I want to do this for sure now!!

Can't really beat the price! Under $50 for all that? Excellent deal! Good bargain hunting! Thanks so much for all the information!!

This looks really cute! That for sure will be enough for 50 people! Also adding an idea here, maybe changing the smarties to a different bowl or changing the candy because the starbursts that are on the other side kind of does not go. Did you want to put ribbon or burlap around the buckets and/or glass? Did you want to add color to the table by putting an overlay or table runner? Where are the other two jars going? Can the pixie sticks go into a bucket?

Not sure how that would look, I'm doing my best to visualize that way. Sorry! I hope that kind of helps!
