Candles for afternoon reception?

My reception is going to be at 3pm. I really like the centerpieces that have lit candles as part of them. However since its going to be at 3pm and in a room with windows (idk if that matters or not) is using candles something that would make sense or not make sense because of the time of day?

I'm overthinking everything. 😣

Lit candles in a room with windows at 3pm sounds redundant to me. But unlit candles still add a nice decorative touch to any space, especially if they are in votives or on candlesticks.

Candles are always a good touch! And you should still light them. Never lit candles are considered uninviting and bad luck.

Just make sure your venue allows open flame. None of the venues we looked at did. Other than that, I see no issue with using candles during the day.

I am having an afternoon wedding as well, I am planning on having candles on the tables. I think they look pretty and are a beautiful detail. I think lit or unlit they will be a nice touch. Of course we hope for perfect sunny weather the day of, but if it were to rain or be a gloomy day the candles will be perfect.

Is it possible to visit the venue and check how the candles will look during the hours you will be using them? I also made diy candleholders and will be using them later in the day during an outdoor/screened picnic building style reception. The ceremony is in the early afternoon And it’s the weekend of the solstice. So I will do a test viewing.

Go ahead and light your candles! This is a good question tough as I was sort of wondering that given my reception will start when it is light outside and end far after dark. I think it makes sense to light them right away though.

Our reception is 7-10pm a little later than yours and we will have all candle centerpieces!!!!! I’m decorating ours off of this picture! It’ll be a smaller intimate reception so I thought the candles would be perfect!!!
