Candle Only Wedding Decor

xINCOGNITOx, on August 22, 2010 at 3:11 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

Anyone have some examples they can share? We are having an evening Wedding and I love how romantic and pretty Candles look and was wondering if there is any decor for weddings that is only candles, no flowers.

Thank you in advance Smiley smile

We did some wine glass candle lamp shades. I LOVED them. You have a wine glass (any size..we varied it added to the feel) put a tealigh in it and then cut out a lampshade out of vellum paper. We punched heart holes in the bottom of ours. It glows under the vellum and was so romantic. Super cheap table decor and most every single guest made a comment about them (positive all). Ok my pictures aren't the greatest...first is a close up and the shade is crooked..second is them lit in the background and third is how they were set up on the table.

I wanted lots of candle light as well! For the centerpieces, we took a round beaded placemat in our wedding color with an oversized silver lantern on top. We had a tropical wedding so we also put sand and shells in the lanter around the candle. For our favors we had mini lanterns with a batter candle (real candles made the lanters too hot to pick up). As our guests walked in they picked up their favor with the place card tied to it. Once they got to the table they naturally placed the favor lanterns around the centerpiece and so it created a lot of candle light. We got lots of compliments on the favors and centerpieces. The best thing was that my mom and I both used the lanterns to decorate around our houses and then gave the rest to the wedding party, who all have them in their houses or porches. I don't know that the centerpieces were any cheaper than flowers would have been, but at least they didn't die and get thrown away a few days after the wedding.

My husband made these candle holders that we had around the room as decoration. I love them and also have been able use them as home decoration (we live in Florida). Love it because I've had a couple of friends who also had weddings on the beach that have been able to use these too. For one of their weddings, they got married in the sand so we made a bunch of these and used them to line the isle.

We're doing this with a mirror under it for our centerpieces...

FSUchick, what are the "pilings" made of? Would your hubby like to make more of them? I think they'd be great for the beach weddings I officiate in Florida.

We had square votives filled with water and floating candles. It was really romantic.
