Candle lighters

Sierra, on February 3, 2020 at 9:01 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
How did you decide who your candle lighters would be your your wedding day? Originally when planning our wedding (before having a venue or anything set) I plain and simple didn't want candle lighters, ushers, or a bridal assistant 1 it seemed like just an extra job to give someone and 2 I Couldn't think of anyone who it would make the most sense to be a candle lighter. I see the point overall just seemed like something we could go through without.
But we are getting married in the church I grew up in and the church has its own planner. Love her shes known me since I was a child. The planner said church has a requirement (idk what else to call it) of having candle lighters to symbolize the starting of the ceremony which makes sense cause thats how every church service started (this is different than the candle lit by family and the bride and groom). I really feel I have all my straws pulled for people to be in the wedding. One of my sisters and 2 best friends are my bridesmaids. My brothers are ushering and my other sister is the ring bearer.
Any one else that i guess "makes sense" (close friends of mine or family of future husband) is all traveling to attend and dont want to ask them to do a job on top of traveling. Any suggestions?

Could you possibly ask a grandparent to do it? Or do you and your future spouse have a close friend in common that could do it?

What about your mothers, if they are in the picture? A grandparent could be nice as well, as Kaysey said.

All of the family will be in the processional. The mothers will be lighting the heritage candles already. So that could be killing 2 birds with 1 stone... but im not sure if one will take from another?

Are both of your fathers around? Would it be something they could do?
