Cancelled wedding.

Nydiadamian, on June 29, 2020 at 10:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
I’m a bridesmaid for my cousin and her March 2020 wedding was postponed to July 3020z Well, now that cases keep rising and there are new regulations for weddings. She decided to go ahead and cancel.
I feel completely horrible for her. I want to do something that could cheer her up but not sure what. I would love to hear some ideas.

Whenever my friends are going thru something like a break up, I give them a little care package. Put something like their favorite snack and something relaxing they can do like a face mask or nail polish kit, etc. stuff like that

I second the care package idea! If she has a registry, you could also possibly send her something from there! Honestly, just reaching out would be awesome too! When we had to postpone I got zero calls or messages and it felt awful that nobody seemed to care!

I love what the previous post said. Or set up something for her and her FH. like dinner ordered at home ...

As someone who postponed, the most meaningful thing was to be checked on. My MOH especially reached out to me, commiserated with me for a bit, and then made plans with me to have a spa day on what would have been the day we would get our nails done before the wedding. It doesn't even have to be something that would cost a lot of money, but honestly people's time and caring and concern is the most important. What wasn't helpful was getting those "it's for the best..." comments. I know people mean well, but sometimes you just want someone to empathize with you instead of trying to ignore how much things suck.

That's so sweet of you! Smiley heart

Like everyone has said, reaching out personally and checking in on your friend will be the best way to support them. You could also send them a small surprise gift, plan a fun virtual night together, or cook them dinner - whatever they would appreciate most!
