Cancellation?

Tnt, on April 18, 2020 at 9:46 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
Our wedding is July 25. It will be small, less than 40 guests. Is anyone else afraid they might have to cancel or reschedule their wedding and honeymoon? How are you all handling it? I'm trying not to freak yet! It

My wedding would have been less than two weeks away. Been waiting so long and now I have to wait some more. I’m trying not to let it bother me but I’m really heartbroken and I feel like anything I do now won’t be the same. All the planning wasted. Getting married at the town hall definitely doesn’t warrant a dream wedding dress. Mine was going to be a destination wedding back to my hometown but if yours is local you might just have to tweak it a little. I read on the news that a couple had their wedding outside with just the bride, groom and minister and all their friends drove by to honk and cheer them on.

We are July 19. Some states will be reopening in May so we are just waiting. Our venue has done a great job with keeping in contact with us. I'd say depending on what state you're in , and what your venue says , you should be fine with less than 40 guests. We are cutting our list to around 50 with just family. We've also came up with a back up date for August 16.

I think having a low number of guests is good!

Where are you going for the honeymoon though? And is it right after the wedding?

Sorry you have to wait. If you have the dress wear it. Even if it is the court house. Feel like a 👰. Hope it goes well whatever you decide.
I've waited 14 years for this.

Our date is the same as yours. We haven't postponed, but we did email our venue late last week to talk Plan B or postponement plans. It's so hard to know what July will look like. Our guest list is between 80-90. We wanted to go to Italy for a honeymoon in late September but we haven't booked anything as I don't think it's a good idea to go there just yet as they are recovering from the devastation.

    Hi Tnt,

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Have you asked any of your vendors about your options to postpone? I'd start with the venue; it would be helpful to know their process/deadline for postponing and available dates. I agree with the PP that it wouldn't hurt to have a plan B.

Similarly, have you checked in with any of your guests? Are they able/willing to travel in July?

No one really knows when COVID-19 will pass; and the impact on each city/state seems to differ significantly so far. Some places may be okay by July. All you can do is make the decision that feels right for YOU with the information you have now. It helps that your wedding is on the smaller side as-is!

    Good luck! Smiley heart
