Canceling vendor

Has anyone picked a vendor, paid the deposit and then changed your mind? What did you say to them?

I haven't personally done that but I would just suggest making sure you read over your contract. You will likely lose your deposit by cancelling, but if you're okay with that then I would just say you decided to go with someone else.

I did it with my venue - I was 3 days until the deposit was non-refundable too. You just say you've decided to go in another direction and would like to take the steps necessary to get your deposit back. Don't stress it, vendors go through this on the reg.

What type of vendor? Have you read to see if you will get your deposit back, what's the reason for cancellation?

Eta sorry for all the questions haha.

This happens from time to time. It's just part of the wedding industry. You will forfeit your retainer but more importantly be straight with your vendor. Notify them as soon as possible that their services will not be needed after all. If it's a customer service issue definitely take it up with them first. Best wishes!

Short and sweet; "We've decided to go in another direction." We've all heard that. If you had an issue that could be solvable, it's probably worth talking about because you will probably lose your retainer.
