Hello everyone , so with 5 months to the wedding my FH and I decided something crazy. We are canceling the big wedding and having a private family only and close friends wedding and we are moving it up to the beginning of September . We had already sent out save the dates so my question is how do we tell our guests and should I be really embarrassed ? We should have thought about this at the beginning but we were trying to hard to have something nice for everyone instead of do we want to do .

Make sure to also return any gifts from guests who you are cutting immediately.

Unless you straight up cancel your wedding or elope, not just opt for something smaller- I think it's pretty rude. You basically invited them then decided you didn't wanna stick to the commitment of what you invited them to

I would call guests individually because I do think that is a little rude and calling individually at least makes the news more personal. You sent our your STD and then are disinviting people.

I get the whole... you need to do what's best for you... but I feel like this is going to cause a lot of gossip and hurt feelings.

I appreciate all of your responses so very very much . After much discussion and consideration my FH and I decided to continue with our original plans . I'm sure everything will turn out great. Thank you ladies , I appreciate all of your advice as this is a very tough decision.
