Cancel Order At Kleinfelds

Lisa, on June 5, 2015 at 2:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34

OK... I'm freaking out. I ordered my dress and veil at Kleinfelds in January...I was a bit pressured but had tried on many gowns elsewhere first. I gave them 60% which was close to $4000 dollars with the veil. I now found another dress at a small boutique trunk show that is better suited to me and can be rush ordered from Austrailia in time for my 9/25/15 wedding. My dress from Kleinfelds has not arrived yet but will anyday. I signed a contract but have not received the dress or had any fittings. Do I have any prayer of getting any or some of my money back???!!!! If it matters the other dress is cheaper and might only cost me another $1000 more (after the 40%) to have it rushed shipped etc. I am feeling crazy and desperate. Has anyone ever successfully gotten their deposit money back from Kleinfelds. HELP!!

Depends on what the contract says - I'm going to go with no, you will not get your money back.

I didn't go to Kleinfelds, but with a signed contract I highly doubt you'll be able to get anything back. I know my contract said non refundable.

Yeah nope. At very best you can try to sell it back to them, but it will be with a loss.

I don't think there's any bridal shop that will refund anything :/

I have an article where the owner Mara Urshel says if the company has not cut the dress yet.....I'm thinking the dress is cut since I ordered in Jan. I'm so scared to even call. I'm feeling I will get pushed around no matter what. I'm not too assertive in these matters.

My friend tried to cancelled her order due to the wedding being called off and Klienfields did nothing. I doubt they will budge.

I ordered my dress from Kleinfeld's and while I don't have the contract with me if memory serves me right you forfeit your initial deposit.

Worst case, you can wear it or sell it. I doubt you'll get a refund at all.

I agree with Emmy, call them.

You are learning the hard way one of the cardinal rules of wedding planning. Don't keep shopping after somethings been purchased.

ETA: I agree with Surfergirl too.

You could always try to sell it. My philosophy is, there is really no point in spending THAT much money on a wedding dress regardless how much money you have. You bought a crazy expensive dress, i would honestly just keep it at this point.

No, if the dress is already in production, you will not get your deposit back.

I have seen a SYTTD at Kleinfeld's where the wedding was cancelled and the dress was made. They would not give her a dime back. She ended up paying the remaining balance and taking the dress. If she had not paid the balance, Kleinfeld's would have kept the dress and tried to re-sell it.

That's a lot of money to just take a loss on. I would either try to resell it or just wear it.

If it's a really popular dress, there's a chance you may get something back. A tiny tiny tiny chance

I saw the same episode Emily. The woman's wedding was called off and she still had to take the dress.
