Can we talk grooms/groomsmen attire?

Chloe, on July 15, 2019 at 2:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24
So I trust FH to a degree lol, but I pretty much invited myself when he snd his party go looking for their suits/tuxes?

But my issue is that i’m a bit confused which brings me to my main question(s), are they supposed to be wearing suits or tuxes? Is there a huge difference between the two? Is one more formal and the other casual? Literally I have no idea, anyone have advice or some insight?

A tux would be for a formal wedding.

We went together, my fiance had a say in it obviously but he wanted my opinion too. Tuxes will have a thicker, shiner lapel (usually) and a vest, more formal. We went with rented suits through GenTux.

Yes a tux is more formal. I would say it depends on your venue and the type of wedding you want.

Tuxedo is the most formal, almost always black. Suit is less formal, can be any color. Each can have different accessories to add to the formality of attire.
Is your wedding going to be a very fancy event?

How did your experience go with GenTux? I was looking into possibly using them or The Blk Tux

i completely trust my FH with the decision, but we did go together and pick them out together (although I already knew what I wanted and just went with it lol). Some guys go together, some don’t. My FH’s groomsmen have been going on their own time to get measured and it’s worked perfectly. Everything is already picked out for them when they get there.

I'd try both! Both offer free try-ons. Black Tux annoyed me because they wouldn't let us try on the black suit since it was too popular. We wanted to see the actual suit, so we opted for Gen Tux. I'm happy with them! Our wedding isn't until Saturday but the suits arrived on time & only two people had to get different sized jackets, then shipped them immediately. A lot of people got theirs dry cleaned (which the website says you don't have to) but everyone just thought it would look better if they did.

Not too fancy but not at all casual either. I was really just looking for the difference between the two. Thank you so much for the info!!

Tuxes are more formal. If you’re having a very formal wedding you would have to do a tux. But semi-formal I’d say it’s really up to you/him if you prefer a suit or a tux. We had a semi-formal daytime wedding so suits definitely would’ve been fine, but my husband and his best man were like “if my own wedding (/my best friend’s wedding) isn’t enough of a special occasion to justify me wearing a tux, nothing ever will be!” So they decided to go all out and wear tuxes!

Tuxes are more formal. Really, the only distinction between a tux and a suit is the satin on the lapel and pants (although they don't always have satin stripes on the pants anymore). We went with Men's Warehouse and did charcoal tuxes with regular ties instead of bowties. We also chose matte black leather rather than patented leather because we weren't fans of the shiny look.

Personally, I've never seen the guys wear a tux at any of the weddings I've been to. They always wear suits. However, the weddings I've been to have all been semi-formal/cocktail attire weddings.

Same here- I went with my FH to pick out suits. He has no taste and would come back with a purple suit jacket and green pants lol.

Tuxes are worn for formal weddings, while suits are worn for all other types of weddings. We used the black tux and had a great experience.
