Can someone give me a shuttle service how-to?

Sarah, on October 18, 2019 at 7:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
My dream is to get married in the redwood forests of Northern California. Luckily, I live in the SF Bay Area, so that’s a possibility.

All of the venues I’m looking at are about 2-ish hours outside of SF (where my FW and I and most of our friends live) and anywhere from 1-3 hours away from our local guests (we have family all over the bay). The majority of guests will also be traveling from outside of the Bay Area (my FW’s family is mostly in LA, and I have family and friends all over the country), so a hotel block is a no-brainer.

I’ve started looking into hotels near the venues we’re considering, and because we want that beautiful, secluded woodland vibe, the closest hotel to any of the venues is 30 minutes away. FW and I both have a lot of older family who won’t be comfortable driving windy forest roads at night, and a lot of younger family and friends who’ll want to drink well into the night, and I can’t imagine that Ubers are plentiful up in the mountains.

Does anyone have experience with contracting a shuttle service, especially for a medium-large wedding (150+)? How much did it cost? The numbers I’ve been seeing in some preliminary research are scaring me. I’m worried I’ll have to sacrifice my woodland wedding dreams for the safety of my guests.

I’m posting to follow the answers, as I’m looking for something similar but haven’t gotten to the step of making calls yet. One thing I hear is that school buses are cheaper than the typical party buses.

That’s a good idea—I’ll look into it! It would be especially cute since FW and I are both teachers.

    Hey there, Sarah!

The best way to get an idea of the cost would be to reach out to some transportation companies and see what they would estimate for this job. School buses may be cheaper and a cute option based on your professions Smiley smile

There are some transportation companies listed on the WeddingWire vendor directory you can reach out to via the contact form - San Francisco Wedding Limos. You can also change the lcoation on this page if you wish!

Sometimes hotels have a shuttle service. My hotel (Marriott) did, so I booked theirs. Otherwise, contacting limo services in the area.
