Can I wear this dress to my rehearsal dinner?

Anastasia, on January 7, 2016 at 8:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 39

Long story short, I snagged this $2k Catherine Deane wedding gown on ebay for $50 when looking for a rehearsal dinner dress. It was too pretty not to bid and it was SO CHEAP. I received it and it is genuine and brand new.

Now my questions is: where the heck can I wear it? The rehearsal dinner is relatively casual, a dinner being held at my FMIL’s house. Will I look like a dummy wearing this dress? My MOH says go for it, but I’m not sure. Another option is to use this as my dress to change into on the wedding day when I’m tired of trying to dance in my ballgown/ for the after party. Could I use it for both? I think my FH would also appreciate seeing me in something “slinkier”. I just don’t want to look like an idiot for wearing such a fancy dress.

WW is being difficult and not letting me post with pictures, so I'll post in comments.

I'm going to assume its long and the same material throughout? I'd wear it as a rehearsal dress but I wouldn't change into it after the wedding.

I would! I wore a fancy ivory dress for the rehearsal. I figured being a bride is the only time I'll get a away with wearing so much white, so I did it up!

ETA - for some reason I didn't read the post and just looked at the pic, I swear I don't normally do that! If you think you'll feel uncomfortable in it and be self-conscious at the RD, don't wear it. I think it'd be cute to change into if you want to have a backup dancing dress.

Wear it for the rehearsal! If you're having a shower you could wear it for that too.

I say wear it. If you're afraid of it being too dressy you can have it shortened to wear with flat sandals.
