Can I wear any underwear I want under my ball gown?

Hi friends!

I've been doing some laundry, making sure everything is set for my final fitting tomorrow at 1:30. I'm getting excited!

Well, I guess my washer decided now is a great time to eat and destroy my nude panties that I wore for my first fitting. They weren't too special, just a nice pair of lacy edged cheekies that cost WAY more than I ever spent on underwear. Nothing that shapes or sucks anything in.

So my question is: Should I go buy the same ones in the morning or find another pair of nude ones for tomorrow? Or can I wear a darker pair that I have in my drawer that's the same style? The dress is a ball gown, so can I even wear black panties and they won't show?

I'm more just double checking! I don't want to go into the fitting and have the attendant tell me that non-nude ones are bad, or for them to show through. I mean, I do have nude granny panties, but I want to feel a LITTLE sexy at the last fitting and get a feel for that style under my dress, you know?

Wear the black ones and if they show through get nude ones.

FYI invest in a lingerie bag for washing lacy items. But I think you could wear any color for the fitting. However Ashley N has a point.

Yeah, I did use a lingerie bag for these. I even only did air drying for them too and hand washed them every other time. Unfortunately I guess there was some rip or hole in it that I never noticed. Maybe from catching on my drawer or who knows. I bought them back in June, so it was really surprising that they got messed up so quickly after maybe 5-10 wears. We also have a washer that only has a couple of super-basic settings, provided by our apartment, so it might have sped along the deteriorating.

I was only hesitant wearing dark ones because it's so hard to look at an overall dress when all you can focus on is your underwear showing through! That's why I figured I'd ask if ballgowns can pretty much have any color under them

Really, this is a question for a fitting?Just wear a nude pair, nobody will see them at your fitting, then get a pair that you like for the wedding.

I agree with Ashley. If you notice the black (or whatever) showing through or even wear a different nude pair, you still have time to find something else. With my ballgown, the cut and color didn't make a difference through all of the layers (I tried mine on at different times at home, lol). FTR I still wore the nude pair that I bought for this purpose.

I think the black ones are fine for the fitting. You will get to see if they are ok for the wedding or you need to buy a new pair. You can bring some nude ones to change into in case it actually does show through and you find it distracting. Or just take them off.

I think you'll discover you can't see them - you're going to have a lot of fabric between them and the outside
