Can i use my passport with my maiden name for our honeymoon?

Kayla, on May 8, 2018 at 6:57 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 17
My fiance and I are going to the UK 2 days after our wedding for our honeymoon and staying for 3 weeks. Should I be concerned about having a problem getting there or coming back with my passport if I haven't changed it to having my new last name? I appreciate any input!

I can't imagine you'll have time to change anything else to your new last name in those 2 days so you'll be fine. It would probably only be an issue if you had your id changed but not your passport.

Yes definitely won't have time. That's why I'm concerned. Once you're legally married, your last name is still technically your maiden name until you change it? Like, it doesn't change automatically with a marriage license? I just want to make sure there won't be a discrepancy when I go through customs and immigration Smiley smile may be a silly question but I feel totally clueless about this!

As long as your tickets, passport, driver's license are all in your maiden name you will be fine. Your name change wont legally happen very quickly so you go as your maiden name. When you get back and th ed license is filed. You have made the change with the sad, and you get a new driver's license. Then your name change will need a new passport.

As long as you book your tickets in your maiden name so your passport and other ID match the tickets you should be fine. You can also check with your travel agent to know for sure.

As long as plane tickets and other things are booked in your Marian name you shouldn’t have a problem. The name change is a process and does not automatically happend after you marry theres paperwork involved.

Your name does not automatically change just because you get married. You have to go through a process to change your name. Book your tickets to match the name on your passport.

You won’t have had time to legally change your name yet so you’ll have to use your current passport.

It just depends on when it is expiring. My honeymoon is in August and my passport expires in september. So I will have to renew it (glad I saw this post because I keep forgetting to do this) now and then change if after my honeymoon 🙄🙄 I believe it can’t expire within six months of travel (or somewhere close to that).

It’s not changed until you go to Social Security so you should be good! 😌

We just got back from our honeymoon. Since my ID and passport, and all my tickets were in my maiden name I had no issues. You do not want to change your name on your passport if you have not legally changed your name yet.

Unless you go and change your name, your name doesn't POOF! change when he puts a ring on it

You'll be good, because that will still be your name

If you legally change your last name, your passport must match the name that you have taken. I would speak with the passport office to learn if there is a way to expedite the change. Also, consider waiting to change your legal name until after you return. I believe that there is a bit of flexibility for marriage name changes depending on the state where you reside.

As long as your tickets are booked in your maiden name you will be fine. There is absolutely no way you will be able to legally change your name before you leave for your honeymoon, so your name will still legally be your maiden, so there won’t be any problems at all.
Legally changing your name requires your filled marriage license (which normally takes a few weeks to process), a trip to the social security office, and a trip to the DMV. Literally none of those things can happen in 3 days so you’re definitely good as long as the tickets are in your maiden name

No, your last name definitely does not automatically change when you get married. You have to go to social security to make the change.

Your ticket has to match the name on your passport, so if the ticket has your maiden name, and the passport does too, and it's not expiring in the next few months, you will be fine.

Yes legally your name doesn't change until you go to the social security office and request it to be changed. Definitely do all of that when you get back and book everything in your maiden name. It will save many headaches. Since not everyone chooses to take on their spouses name it is not automatic.

Will you legally change your name by that time? If not, it shouldn't be a problem.
