can i have more than one maid of honor? issues with friends

Becky and Brendan, on February 26, 2017 at 3:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

I have 3 really close friends. I think they would all be wonderful as maid of honor as they all have special qualities that make them all different. the thing is, the 3 girls kindof know each other but are not in the same group of friends so my option of having them all 3 do 1 speech i dont think would work. Another issue is i feel one girl would be the best in terms of planning and keeping me calm and helping with all the little details - easy pick, however, i have another friend who i have known for a longer time and i think she too would be great however, i've started noticing she gets upset over very little things and make its a big deal and makes things seem like its my fault- i really dont want to deal with that during this time however, she is also the person who would be mad if i didnt pick her. the only friend is great and would do a great speech however, shes more a go with the flow type of girl and i think i would worry if she was doing everything on time.

SO PLEASE HELP

Yes you can have 10 MOHs if you'd like to. It is just a title, so if it makes people happy then whatever.

A word of advice: Don't pick anyone or tell anyone anything until about 8 months before your wedding. You can save yourself a lot of drama if any changes take place in your friendships.

You have 3 posts on the front page.

Please don't do any more as its considered hogging.

Rule of thumb: 1 post per day max. You may comment as much as you like.

    1. Try combining questions into one thread.

    2. Don't ask your BP until you are at 6-9 months out ideally, or at least wait until you have less than a year. Relationships change all the time.

    3. You pick your MOH based on who you are closest to. It is a position to honor her importance to you. You shouldn't pick someone because they will help with planning or give a good speech. It is not your MOH/BMs job to help you plan.

Sure you CAN--there's no law against it. But honestly it just seems immature to me, like how early elementary schoolers go through a phase where they brag about how many "best friends " they have. "I have three best friends. How many do you have?" "I have TEN best friends."

I bet you know which one of these people you are actually closest to. But if you really, yearly can't pick then there's no need to have a MOH at all. Just have three bridesmaids and call it good.

You can have more than one but it would be too much. You could opt out of having a MOH and just have them be bridesmaids. But with your wedding being June of 2018...I would hold off on asking anyone right now. It's too soon. I asked too soon and ran into problems.

I have two maid of honors. We've been the three best friends since high school and there is no way I could choose between them because they're both important to me. I don't think it's "bragging" about how many friends I have I just have two girls who are practically sisters to me and I wouldn't want one of them to feel like they are lesser to me than the other. You're real friends will understand whatever you choose to do, but if you want three maid of honors then have three maid of honors! It's your big day and not something you should stress about Smiley smile

I don't see why people think it's immature or over kill. I think of you have more than 1 girl who you can call your TRUE best friend then good for you, good friendships are hard to come around these days. Don't be ashamed that youre blessed will valuable friendships! If you want more than 1 then do it Smiley smile I personally have more than 1 and one of them is gah and YES he will be standing by my side on the "female" side. What year is it?? 2017 . There's things changing all around us. Gay marriages. weddings are already soooo boring when it's nothing but the same routine as every other wedding ! Blah! Forget the rules. It's your big day! Make it interesting and personalized girl Smiley smile
