Can i have both a maid of honor and matron of honor in my bridal party?

April, on March 24, 2018 at 6:08 PM Posted in Planning 1 16
I have best friend that is married, and other one that is not. I want both in the wedding. Is it weird or a bad idea to have both? I know Matron of honor is usually a married sister, but I'm the oldest and the first to get married. So I wanted to my best friend instead to be the matron.

You can have both. Nothing wrong with that.

You can have both! There’s no hard and fast rule about who can and can’t be what in the bridal party. Plenty of people mix it up and have a man of honor instead or bridesmen or whatever you would call them.

Not at all! I have both in mine (my 2 best friends) & 3 bridesmaids just cause I couldn’t choose between them. With the duties it makes it a little easier too with sharing work either between bachelorette party & bridal shower.

Absolutely! I was my sister's maid of honor and her best friend at the time was her maid of honor. We split the duties. Since she asked me first, I asked if it would be ok if i did her bridal shower and her friend do the bach party. (It fit our personalities better that way!)

The Maid of Honor is just your lead lady. You pick whoever you want. It’s okay to have two if you want to bestow that honor on your two closest people. The title is simply changed to Matron instead if she is already married. So, you can choose who you like but β€œmatron” itself isn’t an actual role to fill. It’s just the name of the maid of honor is married.

I have both! My Maid of Honor is my best friend and my sister is my Matron of Honor. I had a little trouble deciding who should stand where/closest to me, but decided on my Maid of Honor standing next to me and then my Matron of Honor next to her. Mostly because my sister hates being in the spotlight haha.

I totally have both, two of my best friends. One is the matron of honor and one is the maid of honor. They're the only two in my bridal party as well.
