Can i have a Matron and Maid of Honor?

Haley, on November 5, 2019 at 2:13 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 14
My best friend for years is going to be my Matron of Honor in my wedding party as I was just her Maid of Honor in her wedding but... would it be offensive if I had a Maid of Honor also? My other best friend who has been in my life since 1st grade and always talked about being each others Maid Of Honor is also in my wedding party so I feel like she thinks she is going to be my Maid of Honor. I don't mind having both but I don't really know the etiquette. I feel stuck, what are your opinions?

Yes, you can have both! My older sister is my maid of honor (not married) and my oldest sister is my matron of honor (married). Smiley smile

You can have both if you want. One of my friends is one of three girls and she wanted both of her sisters to be her maid of honor so she had co-maid of honors.

There's no real etiquette rule for this. It's whatever makes you happy!! I am also having both. I have my sister who is my best friend in life, and I have my grown daughter who is my other best friend in life. How was I to choose between them? I really couldn't, so I made them both MOH. My sister is married, so she's the matron, and my daughter is single, so she is the maid. Simple as that.

You can definitely have both! But still, one person will be standing right beside you on your day, so you are still "choosing a favorite" if you know what I mean. If you have two i would have them do a joint speech at the wedding so guests know both are in the highest honor.

I'm having both! My sister is my maid-of-honor and my sister-in-law (my brother's wife), is my matron of honor!
