Hello all! I was hoping to pick the brains of any other brides or event planners who have hosted a rehearsal dinner in the Cambridge or Somerville area. We're expecting to have around 35 attend the rehearsal dinner and are looking to keep the cost around $2,500 with food, drink, tax, tip, and any fees as we're paying for it ourselves. We're actually looking to hold more of a cocktail reception with hor d'oeuvres and maybe a few stations as much of our family will be meeting for the first time and we'd like for them to be able to mingle. A few places that we've looked into have been coming up closer to $3,500-$4,000. We don't have any available space to host the dinner ourselves so are looking at a bar or restaurant. We're hoping to stay close to public transportation as many of our out of town guests won't be renting cars. Thanks in advance!

I work in Cambridge! What kind of cuisine are you looking for?
Sulmona is pretty good for italian, Thelonious monkfish has great sushi/Japanese, Pagu has good Spanish/Asian fusion. There’s a ton of great places! These are just a few near the Kendall/central area

I live in Cambridge!

Over in East Cambridge Bambara is great for events (we did Friendsgiving in the lounge) and it’s really close to the Lechmere station. We recently went to an engagement party at Somerville Brewing in the Loft but it was only a few people (like 20 people).

Also a a new place opened near Kendall called Shy Bird which would be a really nice place for a rehearsal

We're trying to stay close to the Red Line since our guests will probably be staying near Alewife / Harvard but think we will definitely be reaching out to Shy Bird!

Hi I know choosing a rehearsal dinner spot in Cambridge or Somerville can feel a bit overwhelming with so many great options. From my experience restaurants with private or semi private dining areas really make the night feel special and more intimate. Also, if you are thinking about logistics for getting everyone there comfortably checking out local services like BNL Boston Limo can be useful to see what options are available for group transportation. Are you leaning more toward a casual dinner vibe or something a bit more formal for the evening?
