Calming my wedding day nerves...

So, I am terrified to be center of attention. My wedding is in 5 days and I woke up this morning and it hit me like a brick wall in the face. I have to walk down the aisle in front of 130 people AND I have to speak! What did you do/plan on doing to calm your wedding day nerves? I'm so afraid I'm...

I'm so afraid I'm going to start bawling and look like an idiot and not be able to stop! My stomach gets the butterflies just thinking about it...

Good call, Ann. I'll be sure to let her know when I send her a confirmation email!

I had the same exact issue! We were positioned at the alter in such a way that I only looked at my future husband and I couldn't really see anyone else. We also had a late ceremony, so I waited until right before and had a glass of wine!

Jenn, I feel the same way and ours is on Saturday too! I have been trying not to think about the ceremony part and having to say really emotional things in front of other people. I'm hoping our time together during the first look will help to calm me down. Other than that, we kept our ceremony very short and sweet, which will hopefully work in our favor. Good luck!

Good luck and congrats Ren! I'm trying to convince FH to do a first look, I think it will help!

I was really nervous and I felt like I was going to throw up in the morning. Luckily my wedding was at 1pm so I was so busy I didnt have to wait long. I recommend a LIGHT meal beforehand. Not something like spaghetti. If I had eaten that I surely would have hurled.

I was SO nervous about walking down the aisle and talking in front of everyone. I HATE public speaking and my voice always shakes really bad. For example, I cried before I had to give a presentation at work. when i was in my friend’s wedding as a BM i shook like a leaf the whole way down the aisle.

but for some reason at our wedding, when i got to the end of the path about to walk, i felt so incredibly calm. not sure if it was because my Dad was so relaxed and happy that day, or if it was that it was finally happening, and none of the crazy things i worried about actually happened (pouring rain, getting sick, being late, etc.), but I just felt totally relaxed.

really Jenn, once you are standing up there I think you’ll be fine. You kinda forget everyone is there watching, because you aren’t talking to them or looking at them, so it doesn’t feel like you are talking to a group of 130 at all.

    Thanks, Julie. Great advice!

I'll definitely be sure to eat something light before too!

Jenn- I'm getting the butterflies too. After getting our hair done on the day of we are going for happy hour and having a couple of cocktails to help calm me.

I also hate being the center of attention. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and the bride wanted me to do one of the readings. I drank a mimosa beforehand and I was fine! It really helped to calm some of the nerves! Good luck!
