Calling creative people! Using a pet carrier as a card box?

These are expensive but oh how cute are these.

You could probably make a pretty cute dog house card box bu making a bigger version of a bird house? If you're not the DIY type, I agree, Etsy has everything. Such a cute idea!

Some couples use birdcages, so why not? I think its really creative! MNA has found a really cute idea. My vet office has these cardboard carriers.

I'd probably use the carrier (cut out a slot on the top to fit the envelopes), and then paint the whole thing with an appropriate spray paint. Then I'd probably buy a roll of pet printed wrapping paper and either cut out strips of paper or mod podge images of dogs/cats strategically over the box -- like this paper:

...or, I'd buy something more study, perhaps a pet wall border and edge the box with it -- like this:

You can add the cats by just googling cat wrapping paper or cat wall borders. Once you have the basic design done, you can add to it as you see fit.

I might also get those little metal pet ID tags inscribed with your names, initials and the date of your wedding, etc., and I'd probably glue them around the box. Go to Pet Smart and start looking at small pet related products that you can glue onto the box.

I'd love to give this project a try.

I LOVE the dog house boxes that AMW found- I keep going on Etsy and staring at them. But at $300 plus (if I want all of my dogs included, plus maybe some cats, the price goes up) I just can't make it a practical decision- what the heck do I do with the box AFTER the wedding?

I'm going to look into some of that wallpaper border. Heck I might use some of those to decorate at my hospital- it's so cute! If anyone has any more suggestions I'm all ears (and eyes)

Also, if I run with this, what type of carrier do you think would work best? The Sherpa or duffel style, standard vari-kennel plastic style, or even a small dog crate? I'm leaning toward the vari-kennel or crate style, as the duffel might be harder to decorate? Pic of duffel style:
