Calling All Eastern Pennsylvania Brides!

Mia, on February 5, 2020 at 4:38 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 11
Hi! We’re looking around at venues in and around the Lehigh Valley, PA. We want to stay within an hour of Easton, Bethlehem or Allentown. Hopefully, some of you are familiar with this area and can help! We would absolutely love any input, and we’d love castles, mansions, estates as possibilities! Let me know if any of you have any suggestions or where I can find places like this. We have exhausted wedding wire’s tools and have some options, but we would like to see if we can find something more our style!

Thanks so much! Mia

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Mia!

Have you arranged any viewings yet of the venues you’ve already found? Do you have a good feeling about any in particular?

    Hey Mia,

I've been looking for a forest venue for my ceremony which is hard because many places offer the forest ceremony but don't advertise it upfront. This has forced me to look at a variety of different venue types and locations. As far as castles go, Wolfenberg, Castle Creek Farm, Tyler Gardens, Curtis Arboretum, and Parque Ridley Creek are a few of the nice-looking ones I've seen. I'm not sure what your style is or what your budget is but those are just a few that I knew of in the area that I thought were pretty.

If my fiance would have agreed, I would have had us look at Tyler. It's right around the corner from us and it's got that romantic feel! Also Washington Crossing Park is a good option.

Have you looked at the Welkinweir Estate in Pottstown? It is an arboretum for most of the year but has weddings in the spring and fall. They have a beautiful area for the ceremony and the reception is outside as well. The reception area is overlooking a beautiful pond and plenty of greenery all around. We absolutely fell in love with the venue last fall when we visited even though it was a rainy day!
An additional plus is they are catered by JAM Catering who has delicious fresh food for the reception!

Hi! There are soo many beautiful venues in those areas! I would definitely suggest looking into the JAM venues, they operate many in the PA area and Jeffrey Miller (JAM) Catering makes all of the food - fresh, handmade, on site. We are getting married at the Anthony Wayne House in Paoli, an old historic home & yard. They do have other venues that have a castle feel to them if that is what you're looking for! You can find their venues on Party Space, too. Good luck!

Aldie Mansion and Fonthill Castle/Mercer Museum are both in Doylestown, which is less than an hour from the Valley. Both are Jeffrey A. Miller Catering venues. I’m booked for the Aldie Mansion myself.
A bit further in Bryn Athyn is Cairnwood Estate, a gorgeous building with a beautiful cathedral on premise. It was the first venue I toured but they didn’t have my preferred dates available.

We are getting married at Fonthill Castle in Doylestown!! It’s beautiful and unique and as an added plus.. the reception is in a gorgeous tent so it’s “outdoors” which helps ease my mind on restrictions. I looked at Parque Ridley Creek and even almost signed the contract.. all I’ll say is that my parents are both attorneys and they LAUGHED at the contract they sent us. It’s a literal joke. You are liable for EVERYTHING. As in- they “can cancel your wedding for no reason with $0 refund”. So needless to say after going back and forth I just said screw them. But other couples might not have the resources like my parents to protect them. So just an FYI. Property is gorgeous though. But be prepared to read every line and be blown away by how inconsiderate and ruthless their new Covid contract is. We were the first couple they tried it on. Big mistake.
