Calling all Cinco de Mayo brides!

We are getting married on May 5, 2012. We are not Mexican, and don't want to do a full themed wedding, but would love to add a little Cinco de Mayo flavor to our event. Are there other brides out there getting married on May 5th? Any suggestions for "spicing" up our wedding.

Yaaay! i'm a CDM bride too. We are not mexican, wanted a May wedding, and chose it because it seemed fun. We also have had conversations about how to give a "nod" to the day without making it a mexican themed wedding or taking away from the elegance of the actual affair. Oriental trading has these ADORABLE staws with paper sombreros attached and we were thinking of having bartenders put those in people's drinks during cocktail hour. Pinata sounds fun too but we aren't having a lot of children there so not sure if I could convince him it wasn't for me! Excited to hear what others have to say

5 DE MAYO HERE!!!! Both FH and I are Mexicans!!! We love our culture and what not, but not doing anything regarding the date. 5 de Mayo is actually our anniversary, when he asked me to be his gf, 3 years later he proposed on that date, and were getting married on that date!! We will have a lot of Mexicans there, so that'll be our 5 de Mayo thing. =) Also, might have Coronas and Tecate, what else do we want?? LOL

We will also be having Mariachi (maybe) and of course Mexican music like Banda, Corridos, etc. So I guess it will be a bit more CDM related, but thats most of the events I attend. LOL

LOL, I was going to do beer and wine, maybe I should just do margaritas and beer. More like it!! LOL a pinata would definitely be cool though. HAHA....

OK Serious Question: what would be better: Beer & wine, or Beer & margaritas (& maybe also vodka & cranberry)?

I think you should do whatever it is you want.....also take a look at your guest list. Do you have more people that would drink wine or margaritas? Our guest list is definately more margarita drinkers so that is what we are going to have even though I don't drink them...lol

Hmm...Yea, Margarita & Beer, more like FH and I and my family and friends. Everything I have get togethers I actually always have margaritas, and they are the first thing gone. I think I have made my decision, cus all these wines are too confusing. LOL..YEY TO 5 DE MAYO BRIDES!!! Were close to 6 months away!!!

When I think of Cinco de Mayo lots of bold colors come to mind. If you want to bring in the CDM vibe into the wedding you can use bold colors. I think our "Fiesta" napkin ring would be perfect for this occasion. It is tasteful but yet brings that CDM feel to the table. Your guests will definitely pick up on it! www.remarkablerhinestone.com
