I completely disagree with some of the comments that cupcakes are not for weddings. We are having cupcakes and a small two tier cake for cutting.

We had a cupcake tower with a very small cake on top for us to cut. I didn't want just a cake because IMO it's a waste of money, barely anyone eats it. The cupcakes were popular with our guests, we received a lot of compliments on the look of the tower and the taste of the cupcakes (they were so delicious I ate about 5 the next day...lol). Also, don't worry about anyone thinking "cupcakes belong at children's birthday parties". As long as they are presented nicely, and not decorated with Sesame St. or Dora the Explorer (lol), they're perfectly fine IMO.

We are going to have a small 2 tier cake to cut and then having cupcakes as well. The cake will also be cut so people can have that it want it, but I like being able to have more flavor options with the cupcakes.

I've seen cupcakes at weddings and honestly I prefer cake. All the guests going up grabbing cupcakes just seemed so out of place at this fancy wedding. I'll always eat what's available though!

We're having 5 different mini cupcake flavors arranged on our family's silver trays. I still wanted to have a cake to cut, so we got a 6" round cake for cutting. Most of the guests that we have chatted with thought it was a great idea. We also decided on the mini cupcakes because we thought it would be nice for people to try a few different flavors and not get stuck with a giant cupcake in 1 flavor.

I hate cake. Always have. But I like cupcakes. So thats what we're doing. We found an awesome baker that does vegan and gluten free for our guests with restrictions as well. So it was a total win.

We confirmed with her today and brought home 4 for us for tonight haha they are so yummy!

I vastly prefer cake. I think it fits the formality of the occasion much better. Cupcakes are typically eaten with one's hands, which is fine for a casual birthday party but less ideal at an elegant dinner while wearing evening wear. I also find that the quality of cake tends to be far superior, since cupcakes tend to dry out during baking.

With that said, I would never ever say anything bad about someone who chose cupcakes. It's not wrong, it's just not for me.

We had cupcakes for our wedding. We liked the idea of being able to have different flavors. The baker made them very well, they were moist and delicious.

The downfall we had, though, was that everyone dug into them at cocktail hour. Maybe its just me, but I generally stay away from the cupcakes until after the bride and groom have cut the cake. (Even at birthday parties where cupcakes are served, I don't grab one until the guest of honor has had Happy Birthday sung to them.)

We are doing like many others I see here, and we're doing a small cake for cutting, and then cupcakes for everyone else. The price difference is truly what made my final decision. I'm looking at about a $300 difference between cake and cupcakes. And I always wanted cupcakes anyways. I can spend that extra $300 on the actual meal, so it all worked out for us.

Some people say that cupcakes are for events for children, but I'm an adult and still love a good cupcake. At the end of the day, we are still providing dessert, and it's a lot easier to have cupcakes for our setup.

We are doing cupcakes, which are actually more like square mini cakes, and can be eaten with a fork. My girls have special dietary needs (1 gluten free, 1 lactose free, and 1 vegan), so this way they can all have cake that night. However, we will have a small cake to cut and serve. Also, my FH is being surprised with a different flavor groom's cake, so there will be TONS of different flavors.
