Cake Toppers - Interracial Couple

BreJá, on November 23, 2011 at 3:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

Has anyone who either is in an interracial relationship or knows someone who is and got married, where can we find cake toppers? I've done a mass search online and some of them are just....not realistic, if that makes sense. Either they cost way too much or look rather cheap and do not reflect today's interracial relationships. Most I've found had a black male and a white female. Thanks ladies!

I had a lot of luck with etsy. It was my best bet. Although, we personally spend a little bit of money for it, it was what we like. It is REALLY hard to find some decent ones. We picked a funny one and she was custom made off of the etsy website.

What kind are you particularly looking for? Funny? Romantic?

We found a male and female separate that we both liked and felt represented us. They look fine together; no one would know they didn't go together. You may have to do the same...

Also, you can always do a non-traditional topper (words, monogram, etc...)

    Good luck!

Etsy is definitely the best place to look first.

Even if you do want a "bride & groom" topper, if you dont want to spend a ton to personalize it, you can always get a glass/ceramic one where skin color is not important.

Are you set on getting a groom and bride? I know lots of people are getting letter for topper now a days. Or you could go with something more abstract. I’ve even seen people use chocolate covered strawberries for the groom and bride (witch made for a really cute cake cutting pic)

We'd like the B/G cake toppers to represent us and what we stand for. Have it be more personalized and what not. I have been on etsy before but not for cake toppers. So, I will look on there for them. We are wanting a romantic one. Any pics of the letter types of toppers would be great! Our last name letter is C. thanks!

Yep, we got ours on etsy also..they were cute peg people, so not that realistic, just depends on how much you want to spend. Happy hunting! :-) http://www.etsy.com/listing/83984513/custom-bride-and-groom-cake-topper-bride

I am not sure what you would think about these. They are from Davids Bridal, they have 6 different brides, and 8 grooms. I attached a pic from there site as well as a link.

Edit* would help if I included the link

Thank you @ Tina M. I have seen those and I like them but FH isn't too crazy about them. Then again it's been a few months since we discussed these so maybe he'll warm up to them.

We're doing love birds or something like this from etsy http://www.etsy.com/listing/75934911/custom-cake-topper-with-arch?ref=sr_gallery_3&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=cake+topper&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade

I am not considering "custom" cake topper companies, because I find it offensive that many of them label dark haired brides as several different races. Like on one site I looked at part of the description was, "could be used for asian, hispanic, or possibly dark complexioned caucasian such as greek or italian".

I found some interracial cake toppers on ebay...they were not expensive at all. We decided to go with something that works more with our theme, instead of doing the dolls...but the ones I found on ebay were the only ones I could find because they are really hard to find!

These are a little pricey, maybe, but they are custom and she has quite a few to choose from.

The best we've found are the interchangeable ones that DB and other sites have. at the OP, those prices are just not in our range, but we appreciate the input to this discussion :o)

Had to have mine made. DH and I are both mixed so we couldn't find light skin African American cake toppers that didn't look ridiculous. Got mine on Etsy.
