Cake reception

Kiyome, on July 10, 2019 at 5:47 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 18
Hey everyone 🙂 I was just wanting some ideas for a cake reception. I know the proper etiquette is to not have it during a meal time, so I was thinking anywhere between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM would be good. So far, we are thinking we would do cake, tea, water and apple cider as food and drink options because our wedding will be in the winter. Is it also a good idea to have some savory light bites?? Something like cheese, meat, and crackers and a veggie tray? Let me know what you think!

Light bites and probably closer to 130 if possible. 4 pm is generally early dinner time.

Yes I think this is totally fine.. When you send your invites I believe you'd just want to put a note or something like cake reception to follow (there is probably better wording online 😂)

I would love light bites! A meat & cheese tray (or little meat finger sandwiches would be yummy). Skip fruit since the cake will be sweet enough. Ooh hot tea (and maybe decaf coffee) would be delicious in winter.

2 pm for your wedding might be an ideal time.

Yes, I think some light hors d'oeuvres would be totally fine. Are you going to do a champagne toast or stay away from drinkies completely?

We aren't having alcohol. FH and I don't drink and we thought it would help our budget to not have it 🙂

Yes definitely have some light snacks. You don’t want to send your guests on their way with stomach aches because all they had to eat was cake. Plus people usually expect some kind of food.

I would probably do other small snacks as well. Cheese/cracker/veggie trays sounds great! Also, grocery stores will often do small sandwich or wrap platters for a very reasonable price as well.

Since it will be wintertime, you might also have hot chocolate as one of your drink options. For all the people who don't drink coffee or tea.

I would say add in a hoagie tray, or hot roast beef sandwiches, maybe some fresh fruit, veggies and cheese and crackers if its in your budget.

Maybe add coffee and hot cocoa. I would not add meat trays etc because it becomes an appetizer reception instead.
