Cake pricing and size.

Morning Brides! So my cousin sent me her cake vendor and she paid 1150$ for her cake. I remember there being soooooo much cake left!

I know the cake is a focal point at the wedding but I cannot bring myself to paying so much. I do however want to do cupcakes.

My wedding date is also my 35th bday so I am thinking of a 2 their Vanilla( anniversary and Keylime cake( my bday cake) with vanilla cupcakes for about 90 guest. I am still unsure if I am doing a grroms cake.
What are you guys doing?

Wow! That is a lot for a cake! We are doing a 3-tier (12in, 10in, 8in) which serves 122 people and paying $366. We are only having ~85 guests, so we will definitely have more cake than we need, but we went with the "bigger size" to ensure the cake isn't too small on the cake table, but we were not trying to make it the focal point either..

That’s sooooooooo expensive!!!!! We’re doing a 3 tier cake (with the top 2 tiers fake) and then a sheet cake in the back to keep costs down. Between the really bottom tier and the sheet cake, it will feel 120 people. It cost us $250.

We're doing a single tier 8" cake for cutting and 160 assorted cupcakes. It's coming from a local baker for around $350 total.

That is a lot for something many may not eat. We are doing a one tier cake and 5 dozen cupcakes for just under $200 to feed 50 people. We really wanted multiple flavors of cakes so everyone can find something they like which I find is a problem with many cakes. We did end up buying a stand for the cake and cupcakes on Amazon but it was only $20 and we may use it for gatherings at the house too. I would definitely keep looking.

That is a lot of money for cake, but depending on how many servings it was, it may not be awful. We have a wedding cake & a groom's cake. My wedding cake is a 4 tier cake that will feed 152 people. We got it for $610 (which was a lot less expensive than a lot of the other local vendors). The groom's cake is a 3 tier cake that will feed 52 people. FH's parents are paying for it so I can't remember the exact price, but I think it was like $180 or so. Groom's cakes are a lot less expensive than normal wedding cakes, but our baker did add a little extra cost since the golf ball will be covered in fondant + FH is adding a cake baseball to the cake.

Here is our wedding cake. We bought it at Publix for $305. We also are having an additional 15 cupcakes. We are renting the cake stand for $100. But we’re getting $75 back if we bring the stand back in the same condition as we rented it. We didn’t want an elaborate wedding cake. We mainly wanted cupcakes so that we would not have so much cake left over. The top layer is a 6 inch cake, the other cake layer is 8 inch. We’re having a total of 50 cupcakes.

I did a three tier. I can't remember the sizes of each tier but it served about 210 people or so and it was $275. We were lucky to find a cheap bakery BUT... Our cake sucked AHAH which was surprising considering we did a tasting

I would never spend more than $500 on a cake in fact I wanted my cake to be under $400. That was my budget. My cake with delivery tapped out at $310 for 4 tiers, 3 flavors and any type of buttercream design I wanted on the tiers. I was extremely impressed with both the flavor and affordability of my vendor. I am super excited to see the final product!
