Cake Knife/server Sets

Karisa, on April 14, 2018 at 10:07 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17
How much did everyone spend on their cake knife/server sets, and where did you find them? We have a Day of the Dead themed cake, and I'd like to get one of the sets in the pictures, but they're $150, and I don't want to spend that much on them. I can't find any other cute Day of the Dead themed ones though, so if I don't get these, we'll have a set that doesn't match the cake.

Daaaaammmmmnnnn....that’s expensive. No one will pay attention to this except you. I got a knife from my friend and bought forks for $20 that are vintage and engraved with Mr and Mrs.

As a suggestion...can you find a plain one and DIY. I know nothing about food safe paint, but if it exists, perhaps use that to stencil? Or get some decent looking stickers? It’s pretty much ceremonial anyway.

Chances are, you won't even be able to see your serving set in photos. I would say it isnt worth all that money. Maybe you could find black ones to fit your theme or something along those lines for much cheaper. In all honesty, it's a little thing that only you'll notice.

Go to a local jewelry store where they do engraving and ask how much it would cost to get the handle engraved rather than the blade. You could likely get something smaller in scale done at a much more reasonable price.

$7 on Aliexpress. I'm just going to tie ribbon to them and add Alice in Wonderland charms. Easy DIY.

Our set was originally 200 but got for 150, they are encrusted with crystals and absolutely beautiful. I wanted something that I know would last a really long time too so that I could pass down to the next generation.

Do you really want one? Most venues will have something you can use. After 2 weddings i find it wasn't something i was glad to have spent the money on.

Definitely too expensive Smiley sad maybe buy plain ones and decorate the handles with two decorative skulls and colorful flowers to match your theme

Thank you all for your input! I haven't looked around to see where to buy plain ones. Any suggestions?

Yeah we will never, ever use these things again...so I waited for the 60% off coupon from Michael's and bought a set from there..in total they ended up costing me $11.
No-one is going to inspect your cake cutting set. And unless it's something you will use often it's probably just going to get tossed in a drawer for years.
