We didn't do any of this. We had bride/groom cups made, but they are for drinks in general, not just toasting. Are you doing a cake cutting? I would suggest having something at least for this--maybe borrow it from someone?

Yay! Almost there. I'm so hesitant to buy these two objects and I don't know why. I've been pretty frivolous with everything else, but for some reason I'm hung up on these.

I don't see any need at all for toasting flutes. I did decide to get a cake server partially because we didn't have one at all and I bake all the time. We will continue to use ours regularly rather than putting it up to save.

We did not use fancy cutting and serving utensils, for us it fell into the unnecessary list; along with: favors, toasting flutes, guest book, welcome bags, garter/bouquet toss and prescribed dances. No one is going to notice but you.

I don't think we will use special toasting flutes, and I already have a cake cutting set. It isn't wedding-fancy, but it will get the job done lol.

We were originally going to borrow my bridesmaids cake cutting set bc she said she has never used it except for her wedding.. and then my FILs bought us a personalized set for our wedding. lol.

I am not planning on buying toasting glasses unless someone buys them for me. I think they are unneccessary.

We used leather goblets for toasting flutes and did indeed buy a cake serving set. For us, it's a great souvenir of the wedding. We still use the goblets and the knife set will be used whenever we have cake.

Nope. A plain knife and glasses will do the job.

I bought beer mugs from Tiffany's because I wanted a keepsake but we are beer drinkers and would never use flutes.... and we didn't even use them at the reception. We drank our toasts out of the beer bottles. Ooops. We were going to use the venue's knife for the cake, but DH decided to use his new hatchet. It did make for some great pictures, but it was something we already had so it didn't add an expense.

I just looked up cake cutting sets online and why in the heck are they so expensive? I think I am just going to use a regular knife. Noone even notices. The flutes I may get custom just so we can have it on anniversaries.

If your venue is all-inclusive they will have them for you. Try oriental trading- I've bought their engraved toasting flutes as well as the personalized cake knife/server set and was very happy with the quality!

We only bought toasting flutes because we wanted them as a memento. I got a book of coupons from DB when I bought my dress. One was for 20% off toasting glasses and cake servers. And the ones I wanted were on sale. I only spent $35. So if you decide to get them, watch for sales. I also saw some good ones at Oriental Trading. Our venue is providing cake cutting service along with the serving tools.

We're just bringing a set of flutes from home (we actually have a ton so just picked a set). We will be cutting the cake with a sword then just a regular knife. I don't understand the need for a knife set you'll never use again.

I considered buying a cake set, but I don't think I'd use it again after the ceremony, so what's the point? As for our glasses... I don't know if I'm going to get something special or not. I have lots we can use, or I can get special. Not sure at this point.

I wasn't going to buy these. I figured my venue would have the cake server and knife. I guess I should ask them.

Not at all. If you drink champagne on a regular basis (like I do, lol) you might get some fancy ones (mine are all thrift store crystal; they were all under four bucks) but I don't think I've used a cake knife or server in 30 years.....
