Cake issues

I’m not a baker, but it seems like the all black cake might be technically easier to replicate. The top one is cool, but I think it has more potential to end up looking like a “Pinterest fail” unless you have a really amazing cake artist

I agree with Dawn. I personally like the first cake better, but that does seem more technically difficult to make which can be an issue. Ask your cake artist if he/she has done something similar and if they can provide you with pictures. That way you'll see if the can pull it off or not.

They're both still super cool though!
What will your decór look like? maybe that can help too. Which cake do you think would go better with the rest of the wedding?

I like the second one

I like the first cake better, especially bottom layer, but decoration on it is very complex & requires a baker with serious artistic skills.
Second cake can be made easily so that it ends up looking just like your photo. For the second one, I would use Dios de la Muerte couple cake topper instead of a skull. Would be super cute & Etsy has all kinds of designs.

Keep in mind an all black cake may cause stains. Make sure to ask the vendor what type of icing they will be using and if it stains mouths and hands.

I LOVE the first one.

The second one, you may want to do a darker cake. (Chocolate, red velvet) because that food coloring could possibly seep into white cake and turn it navy/purple. Not sure if that is important to you or not, just a heads up.

It depends how stained your guests teeth you want in the remainder of the photos lol I love black frosting but it always leaves its mark. I would go with the first just so it's not all black frosting but both will be awesome!

Ok so my bff is a baker - she would HIGHLY suggest against the black fondant. If anyone TRIES to eat it they will get black lips and teeth. I say the one with the trees .

I think #2 for me. I love the idea of a halloween theme wedding but I think the trees might be leaning towards the side of a halloween party as opposed to a halloween wedding. The second sticks to the theme and still holds the element of looking like a wedding.

Regardless, both are beautiful but the first might be really hard to replicate and could end up either being crazy expensive or ugly/failed
