Cake in the Face?

Courtney, on January 26, 2020 at 10:16 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 29
How do you feel about this? Everyone I know has been against it, but I found this idea on Pinterest. Some may think it is tacky, but it cant be worse than the money dance. I would just have to make sure that FH was the one with the most money 😂 Cake in the Face? 1

It’s the same concept as the money dance, trying to make money off of your wedding. I find it super tacky.

Personally I’m not for trying to get your guests to give you more money. They likely have already given a gift so asking for more seems a bit rude

You literally asked what people thought about it. Why ask if you don't want opinions?

I wouldn't want cake in my face as a guest. I would be all dressed up with my hair and makeup nicely done so there is no way I would want to do this. I also think it is rude to ask your guests to give you money.

I wouldn’t want cake in my face after paying a lot of money for professional makeup.

It would surely not only be his wedding day, it would be the day he dies.

I paid hundreds of dollars for my dress and then hundreds of dollars for hair and makeup so this would be a big no from me.

I've seen this at weddings before, but the bride and groom did not do it with money. One had Popsicle sticks with their names on them and that's how the guests decided. Another wedding I went to where this was done had poker chips with the bride and groom's names on them (their wedding has a casino theme). The bride had white chips, the groom had black.

My FH and I aren't doing anything like this at our wedding. We're paying for my hair and makeup and I don't like the idea of asking guests to shell out money during the reception; especially since some of them will be bringing gifts or giving us cards. It is 100% personal preference though. My brother did a money dance at his wedding b/c he and my sister-in-law wanted to. It just rubbed me the wrong way a little bit.

FH and I already talked about not wanting to get messy with the cake. I wouldn’t want my makeup to be ruined and he didn’t want to leave a mess of cake on the floor and everything. It’s a cute concept though.

I think presenting yourself as a charity that requires fundraising at your wedding is pretty tacky.

There is no way that I'd be willing to take a cake in the face on my wedding day.

No, no, no, no noooo! We've has this discussion and there is never a time I would be ok with it🤷
I'm an older bride, I feel guilty getting wedding gifts, there is no way, I could ask for money.(Unless he puts cake in my face, then I would accept donations for the funeral)Smiley smile

Me and my fiance would definitely not participate in this! That's just us though! I really don't like this idea

Absolutely agree with all other pps, this would be an absolute NO for all the reasons stated. In addition, just because something is on Pinterest does not automatically make it a good idea. There is lots of tacky, rude, impractical stuff on Pinterest (not everything, but there are plenty of bad ideas).

Do not turn your wedding into a fundraiser of any kind. Super tacky and gross.

So how about skipping both this and the money dance? You're right, both are tacky.

Everyone I know has been against it

So why do you expect people here to be for it? More importantly, presumably "everyone" includes at least some of your wedding guests. Why would you want to spend your wedding alienating the guests?

    Very tacky.

Even worse than the money dance because it's pitting the bride and groom against each other, and is messy. Also, unlike this cake smash thing, the money dance is customary in some regions/circles.
