Cake - How Much Per Slice?

Barbara - it's funny that you just said that! A friend of mine was at a wedding on Saturday, the couple ordered their cake from Carlo's Bakery and even though the cake was beautifully decorated, apparently it tasted disgusting, the cake was apparently over dry and the frosting had a gritty texture to it. The couple apparently dropped $3k on this cake and supposedly more then most of it was left over.

The baker I wanted to use was $17 a slice, but I make cakes as well so I am making a fake 6 tiered cake and sheet cakes to serve.

4.00 per slice

$10/slice, but it will have lots of sugar work and we are having a relatively small reception. Also, the baker makes the best vanilla cake I have ever had. Completely worth it.

Ours is $2.50/serving. $3/serving is pretty average around here unless there's intricate decoration involved. Ours includes decorations and different flavors for each layer.

Ours is $4 a slice. I think she usually charges $4.50 a slice but I wanted a very simple cake with little decor and buttercream icing. This price includes whatever flavors we decide on (and she has some pretty crazy sounding flavors!) as well as delivery and cake tasting. We are doing our tasting at the end of the month... I can't wait!

@Annie & Javi I have heard of this before. My FH wants to do this to save money.

I made my own cake but if I would have bought it it probably would have been $10/slice because it had fairly extravagant hand painted sugar flowers.

Ours will be just under $2.00 a slice, but we aren't doing a traditional wedding cake. We are doing bundt cakes from our favorite bakery.

The only bakery I've looked at so far was $5 (in house bakery at our second choice venue) I thought that was just insane- that is just base price, you couldn't go any lower (seeing $14 a slice literally gave me a heart palpitation. Ugh.) Luckily our actual venue doesn't charge any kind of cutting or serving fee for cake since they don't bake in house or have a required vendor list. My goal is to spend under $300 for the whole thing, and I don't want/need it to be crazy decorated. Just tasty.

Ours is $2.10 a slice which is a really good deal in my area. We are going with the bakery that partners with our venue, so it's part of the package deal.
