Cake for Vendors?

Kelly, on November 23, 2022 at 2:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

I'll obviously be feeding my vendors a hot meal, but should I make sure they each get a slice of cake? If not to eat at the ceremony, to at least box up and take home?

It's certainly a nice gesture, though I don't know that it's standard - our thing with our vendors was to make sure that they were treated as well as possible. Obviously, they weren't "guests" but we certainly treated them in as close a manner as possible, which included having them help themselves to dessert (we didn't do cake, so it was slightly different).

We included our vendors in our count for dessert as well as dinner. They may or may not choose to eat cake, but I consider dessert part of the meal, and therefore I made sure we had dessert for them too.

It could be odd to have meals for the vendors but cut them off at the dessert table. Of course it is fine to keep them from the open bar.

I would definitely make sure they get a slice. I’ve read a few vendor blogs where they feel gracious about the gesture. The only thing you don’t offer them is alcohol.
