I don't think so. I'm providing beer and wine, but if anything wants anything harder than that, they're allowed to bring their own. However I've also hired security so that if anyone gets out of hand, they will be escorted out.

Well i think it really depends on where your having it and how formal an affair you plan on it being. Are you allowed to BYOB at your reception site?We are having our wedding and reception at a rural residence so we can pretty much do whatever we want.I plan on having kegs and wine, and possibly a signature drink in a fountain. But,if my guests want to drink something other than that, they will be more than welcome to BYOB.If you are not planning on serving any kind of alcohol but are not against people drinking just make sure your guests know where you stand on the issue.I personally think it is totally acceptable.

Well...haha. Part of my venue allowing BYOB was that we had to hire at least one security guard. Which I was intending to do anyway because some people on my mom's side (including my mom) aren't always the nicest people and will go out of their way to do something after you ask them not to. Also, I was worried that certain ex-friends might try something stupid. So I hired four.

Beer and red wine are always popular...hard liquor would be a surprise, i'm sure.

i think it's totally fine since you're on a tight budget and it's a casual venue.

We are providing sangria. Anything else is BYOB. My family doesn't drink but FH's does. Plus they are going to end up bringing their own anyway, which they have a history of doing.

Personally, I would think it quite rude to be asked to bring my own drink to someone's wedding especially since this usually means someone else drinks the nice stuff you bought and you get stuck drinking the cheap crap they bought!

It's not something i've ever seen at anything other than a casual BBQ.

That's what I'm doing. We're having beer and wine. If anyone wants anything stronger, they can bring it themselves. But we're having a casual bbq reception at a beach house.

We're also doing beer and wine....and for a nice touch consider adding one specialty drink that maybe goes with your theme a little.....like we are doing a cherry blossom theme, so we decided to do our own version of a "blushing geisha"....just an idea.
