Buying a sample dress that is too small 1
Hey everyone, I found a sample dress that I really liked but unfortunately it is way too small for me. The seamstress mentioned she could change the design on the back (lower it) and make it fit but I am not sure on this. I am also not sure on buying a sample dress. Could I lose weight and fit into this? I have 5 months.

Don’t bank on weight loss being successful. You would have to work religiously with a trainer the entire time. A dress can be taken in but you can’t make it larger and I honestly would be wary of anyone who says you can. It’s a gorgeous dress but I don’t see a too small dress working out unfortunately.

From what I researched about altering dresses, I'm not sure if you'll like the outcome of the back of the dress. Normally the dress will already include a few inches so that the if dress needs to be made bigger it can be. Since this sample size is too small your seamstress will need add a patch which is why the design will change and she might have to put in a new zipper as well.

It would be better to either find a new dress or lose the weight to get down the size of the sample size. I think you should find new dress rather than risking the money for the dress or your health just to get in the dress. Losing the weight in 5 month is possible and can be done in a healthy way but the stress to lose the weight might be unhealthily.

I wouldn't bank everything on loosing the weight. Could they switch the zipper put for a lace up back? Would be easy to then adjust the size and I think it would make the back prettier than just lowering it.

Having to lose a certain amount of weight to make sure that your dress will fit sounds like a lot of unnecessary stress!

I think the corset idea would be ok. Don't try to alter your body just to fit into a dress to save money on a sample. You'll be spending alot of money on alterations. There will be other dresses, keep looking.
