Busty Bride Probs

Addison, on January 3, 2017 at 8:49 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 48

Hi ladies! Fairly new to Wedding Wire. I'm hoping to get some advice on necklines, silhouettes, etc. for my large bust. While I'm hoping to lose some pounds before the big day, my 42F chest may go down to a DD at most! Any tips or suggestions for me before I start dress shopping?

Look for something that is not strapless so you won't be pulling it up all night. There are a lot of beautiful dresses with straps or sleeves out there

Also don't buy a dress that you hope to fit into after weight loss. you have no guarantee that you will lose weight or how your body will change if you do. Buy a dress that fits your body now and that makes you feel beautiful as you are, it can always be altered later

I'm a E myself. I had the best luck just trying dresses on. Some brands had more coverage with a sweetheart neckline than others for example. And trying on dresses with a good, structured corset bra in my size really helped too. Make sure you are trying on dresses that aren't too small too, to help you determine if the dress will provide enough coverage! I got really discouraged at the first bridal salon because all their dresses were two sizes too small. It looked like my boobs were exploding out. The next salon had a dress in my size and even though it was a sweetheart neckline, it provided enough coverage and was flattering

I am a 38DD. I wore a strapless dress with a corset back and was not falling out. I also did not have to pull my dress up, although I kept catching myself reaching to do so. If you get the right size and alterations are done correctly, you can wear whatever neckline you'd like.

My size is 40G... my recommendations are to not do strapless or halter. Halter hurts the neck too much! I did a sweet heart neckline with 3/4 sleeves and love it! I don't feel like my chest is the first thing everyone sees like I did with the strapless.

I was able to do a strapless sweetheart as well ultimately because of the right bra and the right dress.

I think as long as you get the dress altered to you, it won't really matter what dress you get. on another note, I really need to take other pics of my wedding pics. lol. I got them on a USB and don't know how to get them on my phone, so I keep posting the same few.

I even found I was comfortable with pictures like this. I never would've seen myself in a sweetheart neckline after that first bridal salon where the dresses were so small you could practically see nipple!!! Don't write off any style etc until you've tried on tons of dresses and find what's flattering on you.

Here's the bra I ended up with. I ordered like 10 similar bras on Amazon and returned all the others, picked the one that fit the best. They have tons of larger sizes in various bras on there! A great selection! And I wore Spanx too.

I'm a 32FF. As long as the dress is altered properly, you have a ton of options. I had an off the shoulder ballgown and alterations ended up sewing a long line bra into it, and I think I only adjusted once that night after a couple hours of dancing and climbing in a bathtub for some Princess Margaret-esque pictures

Straps help, but you can wear strapless as many women have shown. How tall are you? Being 4'11 I did the "bend forward" test because I'm on the conservative side and I wanted to see what my guests will see when they're standing next to me.

@Sass... I think I'm going with the same dress. I feel in love with it but want to go to at least one other place before I fully decide.

I'm a 32H and was very comfortable in strapless. You can wear whatever styles you want as long as you have the right sizing and under garments. Please don't buy a smaller size hoping to lose weight tho. Buy what fits and style you're comfortable in. Everyone will think you're gorgeous no matter what.

I wear a 42G and I was pleasantly surprised that I felt good in strapless dresses. I didn't end up picking one but it was totally an option. Honestly I think it depends on the bra you wear. The bra davids bridal put me in was perfect and held everything up and in and I felt super secure. When you're trying on dresses don't rule anything out, try on things you don't even think you'll like because you might be surprised. My mom made me try on some big strapless ballgowns which was the one thing I said I hated the idea of and they were actually really beautiful.

Spiff, it was soooooooo comfortable. I was really worried I would be uncomfortable and not able to enjoy myself (I have OCD and textures/materials can trigger me easily) but I did not want to take this off. It wasn't heavy throughout the night either. Whatever dress you choose, I hope you feel as beautiful on your wedding day as I did on mine :-)

Find a consultant that u love! I'm a 34g and my consultant addressed every concern I had! She found me a dress with straps that still kept a sweetheart neckline that I loved but uts a corset so my girls are locked in and not going anywhere. After all it is my wedding not theirs lol. And they will also help to find a silhouette that balances them out to make sure they are not the main focus

I'm a 38J here and the dress I picked is a strapless with a neckline that my consultant called a soft smile. It's basically just a higher sweetheart and I think it looks fabulous. My dress has a corset back and some boning in the bodice so I didn't feel like I was falling out or needed to pull it up at all for the entire hour I was in the dress at the salon Smiley smile
