Bustier or no bustier?

Ashlee, on February 6, 2012 at 12:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Alright ladies, I'm really trying to figure out if i should do a bustier or not under my dress and what people's thoughts are. Im about 5'6" - 125 - and built like a swimmer (narrow waist, broad shoulders and ultimately - barely B's as I like to call my chest). My mom and I were talking and I asked her and she replied "why do you need one" and I didn't have an answer - soooo,...why do I need one? How uncomfortable are they? Do they really make THAT much of a difference? Thanks!

Hi Ashlee- I'm a lingerie designer and always love helping our WW brides choose the proper undergarments for their big day. I advocate bustiers, as they do wonders for any figure, but need to see a pic of your dress first. The style of dress will determine if you need a bustier, bra, or can skip undergarments all together and have bra cups sewn into your gown.

I sound a lot like you - small boobs and my wide back and shoulders make them look even smaller! I'm planning on getting some good cups to just put in my dress. A little extra oomph.

While I hate them, they do help make a pretty figure even prettier. Also, you can always add some chicken cutlets to enhance your bust area.

CLare.....I didn't know you designed proper undergarments. Hmmm!

I hate corsets. For our wedding, I had to wear one because I am big busted and wore a halter dress. Something had to hold up the girls.

For Cate's wedding, I am doing everything humanly possible to avoid the corset. For some reasons, the boning always seem to show through the fabric and leave bumps.

Please post a pic of your dress. Depending on how it's cut up top you might not need one.

Thanks so much for your help ladies! Here is a picture of my dress - its the first time i tried it on so its a few sizes too big - I dont know if you'll get a true idea of how it would fit and I can't remember if I had a strapless on or not. Thanks for the input!
